Color Throwdown

Hi, everyone! It's yours truly hosting the new Color Throwdown challenge today! I was inspired by this photo from a local lavender farm in Harrisonburg, VA - White Oak Lavender.  I've only seen their products in local gift shops, but it's my goal to actually visit the farm this summer.  I had an ulterior motive when I chose the colors since I wanted to use the new Lavender stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs' January release.

I started by die cutting the jar using ODBD Apothecary Bottles die then stamping the Apothecary Bottles image with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossing with clear EP.  Coloring was done with Copics (BV0000, BV000, BV00, E55, E57).  Flower and leaves dies are by Spellbinders. The sentiment is from ODBD Special Blend stamp set.

Remember...to play along, you don't have to use exact colors - just something that's close.  If you upload to a public gallery, please use the keyword CTD 275 and also link up your card on the Color Throwdown blog using the linky tool.

Sweet Baby

I thought Vicki's colors for the SCS Color Challenge (Tempting Turquoise, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe) would work well with these banner flags from SU's Hearts a Flutter set.  The matching Framelits dies were also used.  I punched holes in the corners and then threaded a needle with Calypso Coral baker's twine and wove them together.  The white BG was embossed using Cuttlebug's Charles EF.  I didn't begin with a baby card in mind, but the center banner reminded me of a bib, so I went with the sweet baby sentiment from SU's Itty Bitty Banners set - also with matching Framelit die.  Thanks for stopping by...be sure and check back tomorrow for a new Color Throwdown challenge that I'll be hosting.

Warm Winter Wishes

It's snowing in the CAS gallery on SCS and thankfully, it's NOT snowing outdoors in VA! In fact, the sun is out this morning.  Well, I just realized this was the CAS challenge for LAST week instead of today. :-(  It pays to note the dates versus the challenge ranking in the list! Oh, well...I have another Christmas card for next year's stash.  It is also for Judy's Technique Lovers Challenge to use REAL sewing on a card.  I stitched across the banners and tried something new that I've seen in blog land - leaving the thread "tails" hanging.  I'm not sure that's my style, but thought I'd give it a go - lol!

STAMPS: Warm Winter Wishes (Flourishes)
PAPER: Little Yellow Bicycle, Silver glitter CS by SU, Neenah solar white
INK: Blue Bayou (SU)
ACCESSORIES: Stitched rectangle die by Lil Inker Designs, Fishtail Flags Die-Namics by MFT, Snow Flurry Bigz die by SU, Rhinestone embellishment by SU.

Mojo Monday

Good Monday morning! Are you ready for another Mojo Monday challenge? I sure hope so, because Teresa has a great sketch for us this week!  Check it out!

Verve has such a great variety of stamps and dies to create all kinds of love-filled cards and it's the season for me to play with one of my fave themes - hearts!  I wanted to go with a clean chalkboard look for my sentiment and knew I wanted to use something from the "Stronger Love" set (yikes...I see it's sold out right now!) that has really awesome font combinations.  We live about 15 miles from Staunton, home of the American Shakespeare Theater which was built as a replica of Shakespeare's original theater in London.  I'll attach some photos - inside and out - of the building at the end of my post.  Anyway...my daughter and I attended the play As You Like It on Saturday evening, so I knew I had to go with this Shakespeare sentiment for my Mojo card.  It was also a good chance for me to break out the Heart Quartet die set that I hadn't used yet.

Here is a peek of the inside where you'll see even more of the die cut hearts...

PAPER: Yours Truly by Echo Park, True Black by PTI, Silver glitter CS by SU
INK: Memories Unicorn pigment ink
ACCESSORIES: Heart Quartet dies (Verve), Flourish Trim (Verve), Silver cording, Rhinestone.

You'll want to check out the other talented mojomakers below for more inspiration - or you can go to the Mojo Monday blog and click on the first few thumbnails:

Are you still with me?  This post is going on and on, but had to say I'm playing along with the Verve divas and entering their fun "Shimmer and Shine" diva dare theme for the January Inspiration Challenge.  My glittery hearts, rhinestone and shiny silver cording are all elements of shimmer and shine!

Thanks for stopping by...can't wait to see what you create!

Sketchbook Saturday Sketch

This card is a CASE of today's SCS Featured Stamper - rebeccadeeprose - whose card HERE inspired me. It also fits Chupa's current Sketchbook Saturday Challenge, so it's a two for one special! :-)  I took a very literal interpretation with the layout and used these leafy dies by Cheery Lynn Designs then added some satin roses using medium glue dots.  The sentiment was a complimentary freebie stamp from PTI that I never inked up and have had for a very long time.  I was happy for these challenges, so I could finally use it.

PAPER: Soft Sky (SU), True Black and Soft Stone (PTI).

CAS Hello

It's a gray, rainy Friday and I was awakened by joint pain which told me it was raining even before I "threw open the shutters and turned out the sash"! Have to head out to work shortly, but first had to post a quick CAS creation for the following challenges:
Colour Q - Basic Gray, Summer Starfruit, Bravo Burgundy, Poppy Red (I subbed Real Red).
CAS(E) this Sketch - fun layout by Leigh Penner.

I used the "Feathers" die set by QuicKutz and sponged and stamped some grid and splatter designs.  Designer paper is from Authentique's Renew 6x6 pad and sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's Arrows and Elements set.  I attached my sequins with Tombow Multi Mono glue - you can see I didn't wait for it to dry or else the centers would be clear :-(.

TGIF...have a good one!

New Challenge Going On!

Hope your Thursday is a terrific one! I'm playing along with a brand new challenge - The Card Concept challenge - and mixing it up with the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge which I've neglected far too long! I like to cross over and try different styles, but the clean layered style is generally what you see in my creations.  For the 1st Card Concept challenge, there's a color combo to use: Kraft, Pink, Espresso, Vanilla. I hope I don't get kicked out of the gallery, but I simply couldn't resist using a bit of green for the leaves (the brown leaves just didn't work for me).

PAPER: Martha Stewart "Holidays", Vintage Cream, Early Espresso, Kraft, Pretty in Pink, Garden Green.
INK: Pretty in Pink (sponged on rose), Soft Suede (sponged on heart).
ACCESSORIES: MFT Die-Namics: Hybrid heirloom rose, Accent It-Celebrate, Open scallop doily, and Solid bracket border dies.  Crimper, Brads.
