Making the Grade

Here's a little PI creation that I finished yesterday for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge in the SCS forum. I paper pieced the skirt and colored the rest with Copics. Some stitching and ribbon completed the card.  Here's what I used:

Color Throwdown 183

Hello everyone! This week is my turn to host the Color Throwdown Challenge and I'm happy to bring you this picture for color inspiration!

I took the interpretation a bit further and also used twine and spring blossoms from the photo to add as elements to my card.  This was my first attempt at using this Grand Madison Window die and I opted to be on the outside looking in.  I created the weathered wood look for the window by starting with vanilla CS, scoring every inch and then swiping Tea Dye distress ink and a bit of Aegean Blue VersaChalk ink over it lightly.  Images were all colored with Copics and flower centers and chandelier were highlighted with Stickles.  The dogwood was fussy cut and popped with foam dots.

We'd love to have you join us! No worries if you don't have the exact colors... feel free to substitute colors that are close! Make a card or paper crafted project and post it to your blog or online gallery. Then use the direct link and link it to the Color Throwdown blog using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the CTD post. If you post to an online gallery, please use CTD183 as your keyword.

So...are you ready to be inspired?? Check out what the Color Throwdown Designers, along with our talented March guestie, Bev Gerard, have created!

Calla Lilies in Blue

I created this card for a couple of challenges:
Color Challenge on SCS: Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Poppy Parade with optional seam binding or ribbon for dessert.
Timeless Tuesday Challenge on the Flourishes blog: Use scallops and lace.

I started with brayering one side of the EF using Daffodil Delight ink then ran it through my Big Shot.  The image was colored with Copics: BG000, BG53, Y13, YG25, YG63, R05, R08.  Plain and simple card...will add the sentiment to the inside as the need arises.

INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Daffodil Delight

Sweet Violets for Harriet

Love my Sunday afternoons...basketball games and the Nascar race going on my TV and I'm in my stamping corner creating this CASE for today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS - Harriet aka hskelly! She's been dubbed the queen of clean and this card is the one I chose to CASE.  I am also making this card for Flourishes' Pinter-Inspiration Challenge which will continue on through this coming week's release time.  I'm so excited to see what new images they will be peeking!  So, here's the lovely Design Seeds photo that is to be our inspiration...gorgeous spring colors and just perfect for me to ink up these sweet violets!

I'm on a roll with coloring with Copics!  I figure I've got to get better as long as I keep practicing, right?
The sentiment banner is a die from Lil' Inker Designs.  I used a diamond EF for the BG and die cut the image using a Labels Eleven Nestabilities die.  My photo didn't pick up the pretty purple shade of the rhinestones, but they are great IRL - lol!

Mojo Monday Card

This is my second attempt at this week's Mojo Monday Challenge...my first is in my reject pile - lol!
After a major organizing and cleaning time in my stamping room today, I found this little piece of ruffled ribbon that needed some love.  I had a leftover rosette strip from a previous project, so I went with using it on the tag instead of a sentiment as originally planned.  I got to try out some new Candi...it's free of calories and since they are white, I could color it using some Calypso Coral ink with an Aquapainter.  They are so lightweight (a bonus for mailing) and they make an awesome faux brad!

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!  I'm off and got a bonus day off yesterday, so I'm loving the thoughts of 3 days off!

STAMPS: Tiny Tags (SU), Tag Time (Verve)
PAPER: Everyday Enchantment DP (SU), Vintage Cream (PTI)
INK: Calypso Coral
ACCESSORIES: Tagged Rectangle die (Verve), Metal flower brad, Tiny tag punch (SU), Rosette die by Tim Holtz, Circle Nestie, Button, Twine, Satin ribbon, Candi circles.

Going Green

The bartenders are going green with the Raise the Bar Challenge this week!

I colored this free digi image from Waltzingmouse Stamps with Copics and paired it with this great Irish blessing sentiment from the Blessings set by Verve.  The 5 1/4" square card base is Garden Green CS with a layer of DP from the Ad Lib pad by Bo Bunny.  A chomped corner and a couple of brads finished it off.

Hop on over to the Raise the Bar blog and see what the rest of the bartenders have to inspire you!
We'd love to see what you create and if you post to an online gallery, please use the keyword: RTB95.

Boys Toys

Today's Ways to Use It Challenge on SCS is to create a card featuring boys' toys (with the option of using big boy or small boy toys).  My husband has always loved to restore old cars/trucks, so I knew I wanted to use this SU pickup image.  It will also serve as an Easter card for my dad.  The layout is using this week's Deconstructed Sketch #42.
