PTI Day #2 Reveals

Hi everyone and welcome to day two of reveals for the March release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Cover Plate: Decorative Circle die + Treasured Teacher Apple Prints stamp set and dies + Treasured Teacher stamp set and dies.

While our children are grown and long past the school days, we have four grandchildren who all have many teachers, so I keep them supplied with cards for their teachers.

My first card is a simple one and a great way to use up those leftover scraps by cutting them into strips for a colorful background.
This set works perfectly with some elements from a previously released set called Storybook: Teachers (books and tape measure). The book dies are from Storybook: Christmas - also previously released.

STAMPS: Treasured Teacher, Storybook: Teachers
INK: Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Limeade Ice, True Black, Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, Cocoa Bean, Summer Sunrise
PAPER: Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Green Parakeet, White, Soft Stone, Summer Sunrise
DIES: Treasured Teacher, Storybook Christmas
OTHER: Simple Strips dies, Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics

This card serves as a holder for either money or a gift card. Here is the process...

Step 1: Check out the gorgeous new cover plate! I'll be using this over and over! The belly band creates a shallow pocket to insert a gift card (omit adhesive along the top of the band).

Now it's time to stamp and die cut out all the fun teacher elements and arrange them in the mug.

I didn't forget the inside of the card this time...

STAMPS: Treasured Teacher
INK: True Black, New Leaf, Green Parakeet, Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky, Raspberry Fizz, Lovely Lady, Pure Poppy, Honey Nut, Summer Sunrise, Cocoa Bean, Summer Rain, Soft Stone
PAPER: True Black, White, Pure Poppy
DIES: Cover Plate: Decorative Circles, The Mug, Treasured Teacher

Lastly, I have a card featuring the fun apples in the Treasured Teacher Apple Prints set.

I knew right away I wanted to fill the basket released last month with these adorable apples, plus I paired it with the apple cover plate die previously released!

STAMPS: Treasured Teacher, Treasured Teacher Apple Prints

Fusion Card Challenge

It's time for another Fusion Card Challenge! I used the sketch and was inspired by the books to use this digi image from Tiddly Inks that I've had for years. I'm really rusty with coloring with Copics, so this gave me some more practice.

The patterned paper is from Recollections and is an old packet I've also had for years. On a newer note...the sentiment is a sneak peek of one that will be part of the March release by Papertrey Ink on the 25th.

STAMPS:  School Girl digital image by Tiddly Inks; Just Sentiments: Quotes (part of the March release by Papertrey Ink).

INK: Versafine Onyx Black

DIES: Tag die by My Favorite Things

COPICS: Skin - E000, E00, E21, R20
                Skirt - B21, B23, B26
                Headband - R24, R27, R37
                Socks - C00, C0, C1
                Books - W00, W1, Y06, Y08, YG25, YG63

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you in the Fusion gallery!  Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #684

Another week has passed already and it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. Amy Rohl is hosting and has some great colors - mostly neutrals with a pop of yellow - to stimulate your mojo! I had my ink cubes on my desk from a previous project and decided I would go with a contemporary style with swiping the cubes over a panel of Bristol Smooth Surface paper. Our design team's data base lists the colors as black, gray, yellow and tan even though the swatch shows what I call khaki.

I swiped Rocky Slope, Sunshine, Warm Buff, and Licorice dye inks (PinkFresh Studio) then added a bit of Fresh Snow pigment ink from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment is a great die set called Handwritten Thanks by The Stamp Market. I love the font!

Sure hope to see your creation in the throwdown gallery! Would love to see what you create! Happy stamping...      ~Wanda

What Do I Do With This?

Melody Rupple and I are up on the Papertrey Ink blog with a new "What Do I Do With This?" challenge and we chose to feature Stickles on our projects. Stickles are basically a glue-like substance with glitter added and they come in small bottles with fine tips which makes it easy to get into tiny spaces!

I typically add Stickles to celebratory cards or sometimes with Christmas greetings. Today, I wanted to use this favorite birthday die called Cover Plate: Big Balloon. It also has a coordinating stencil set that you can use to add some interesting details to the balloons. I added some hearts and some tiny dots to jazz mine up a bit!

Next, I prepared my embellishments and sentiment. These fun little roses from PTI's recently released set worked out well to add some sparkle and shine to the card. I used the pink and orange colors from the alcohol ink base to coordinate the sentiment.

The florals were colored with Copics then Crystal Stickles were added to the edges and shadowed areas of the images.

STAMPS: Thank You Florals, Mashup Birthday
PAPER: White; Yupo
INK: Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, True Black; Versamark
DIES: Cover Plate: Big Balloon, Tag Sale: Quilted, Thank You Florals, Mashup Birthday
OTHER: Alcohol inks, Crystal Stickles

So... now it's your turn to show us how you would use Stickles. If you have glitter, you could substitute that for the sparkle element. Add your entry to the linky on the Papertrey Ink blog for a chance to win a $25 gift card! Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #683

It's hump day again and that means a new Color Throwdown challenge is happening! Broni is hosting and has chosen gray, pink, and lime green - a beautiful springtime combo! I went with an old favorite from Papertrey Ink called Lush Bloom and created a mini slimline card.

I added black splatters with Black Soot distress ink spritzed with water. I highlighted the bloom with Crystal Stickles then added some green enamel dots.

STAMPS: Lush Bloom (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Limeade Ice, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, True Black, Soft Stone, Weathervane (PTI).
PAPER: White, Weathervane, Hibiscus Burst (PTI).
DIES: Lush Bloom (PTI); Mini Slimline Essential Bundle (Pinkfresh Studio).
OTHER: Crystal Stickles, Enamel Dots.

Thought I would throw in a favorite photo from Monday when two of our grands had a "Nana day" and stayed here while schools were closed for a teacher work day! We were blessed by a gorgeous weather day - up to low 70's - which was perfect for outdoor play. This maple tree is great for climbing!

We hope you will play along with our challenge. Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

#cardsforukraine

The senseless tragedy of Russia's attack on their neighbors in Ukraine is hitting close to home! Papercrafters have a number of leaders in the industry that are from Ukraine. Yana Smakula is widely known for her designing, teaching and leadership with a variety of teams and companies. She is currently living in a bomb shelter, trying to survive. The design team at Papertrey Ink has a team member from Ukraine - Svitlana Shayevich - who is so talented and is trying to cope with having parents, a sister and many friends still in Ukraine. The DT at PTI wanted to show their solidarity, support and love to these dear fellow crafters and create a card supporting them and their country!

I started by masking off a panel of Bristol Smooth Surface paper and sponging with Mustard Seed distress ink on one half and Prize Ribbon on the other half to represent the Ukrainian flag. The country's official flower is the sunflower so I went with layered dies from the Into the Blooms II die set from Papertrey Ink. I sponged with distress inks, added details with Prismacolor pencils and used foam tape between layers to add dimension.

I added rain drop embellishments and ironically, thought I should call them tear drops instead. I've been very emotional thinking of the anguish that people in Ukraine must be feeling! After listening to Zelensky's address to Russia earlier today, I was definitely in need of tissues! I can only pray (I know God is in ultimate control) for an end to this ridiculous war!

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Thinking of You (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Mustard Seed, Prize Ribbon, Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive distress inks (Ranger); True Black (PTI).
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White.
DIES: Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Mix & Mat: Scallops, Into the Blooms II.
OTHER: Rain drop embellishments.
