Paper Players Color Week

This week it's all about color at The Paper Players Challenge! Laurie has chosen eggplant, tangerine, gray and black for our color palette and I decided to add those colors to what I consider a neutral background of kraft! I colored the images with Zig watercolor brush markers and because I white embossed the images, it worked pretty well though I couldn't get much shading accomplished.

I initially added 3 die cut layers of the sentiment using black cardstock. It just didn't flow with the rest of the card so I cut one more layer of white and offset it a bit. Then I was happy with the look!

STAMPS: Hello Lovely (Concord and 9th).
PAPER: Kraft, True Black, White (Papertrey Ink); Orange Zest (My Favorite Things).
INK: Versamark.
DIES: Grateful Leaf Dies (Concord and 9th); Blueprint 27 (My Favorite Things).
MISC: Pure White embossing powder by Altenew.

CAS(E) This Sketch

I got happy mail yesterday with lots of new goodies from The Greetery's recent release! I was so tired last evening from a really full schedule that I didn't have the energy to stamp until this morning! I started with inking up the florals from With Love At Christmas and used the sketch for the current CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge. I smooshed some Hickory Smoke distress ink on an acrylic block then sprayed with water. I used a 1/2" wide brush to create the stripes in the background. I then picked up some black paint with a much tinier brush and added the splatters.

Betsy (creator of The Greetery) creates such wonderful multiple step images and provides a color, step-by-step tutorial page with the set that makes it so easy to follow. The Crimped Frame die is also by The Greetery.

INK: Lime Light, Last Leaf, VI Pink, Sweet Gelato, Queen Bee dye inks by WPlus9; Crushed Curry by SU; Memento Tuxedo Black.
PAPER: Smooth White by My Favorite Things; Smoky Slate by SU.

That's all for now...thanks for stopping by and commenting!        ~Wanda

Blessed is the Man...

I was needing a pastor appreciation card this week and was inspired by the photo for the {PIN}spirational Challenges and the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches. In the photo, the sentiment is the central focal point and it's surrounded by random leaves. I went with an old but faithful sentiment by Verve - Jeremiah 17:7 - as the focal point. My new favorite "loose leaf" stamp is the collaboration set by Reverse Confetti and Simon Says Stamp during their Stamptember celebration.

The outline was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and the
filler colors were Shabby Shutters, Scattered Straw and Stormy Sky distress inks.  I slightly tweaked the sketch by offsetting the sentiment panel and I put the trio of circle elements in the upper right corner.  I can't seem to get enough of the Crimped Frame dies that were recently released by The Greetery! They are especially fitting for masculine designs. The base cardstock is Enchanted Evening by Papertrey Ink.

Remember, October is traditionally pastor appreciation month...so don't forget to show your pastor some love!

Color Throwdown #564

It's Wednesday and that means there's a new Color Throwdown Challenge up and running! This week, Amy Rohl is hosting and she has chosen red, yellow and brown for our colors. I opted for a curry shade of yellow since this is officially fall (though it was in the 90's last week when I was working on my card)!

I created my own patterned background using a variety of leaves from the Tim Holtz Leaf Prints set by Stampers Anonymous. I used Real Red, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede inks by SU then ran it through my Big Shot using the Crimped Die by The Greetery. Speaking of crimping...I then got out my long neglected crimper tool and ran a strip of Real Red paper through it for some fun texture. The little wren was stamped with So Saffron, Crushed Curry, More Mustard and Sahara Sand inks by SU.  The sentiment is from the Comforting Commands set by The Greetery.

We'd love to see how you interpret these great colors! If you need more inspiration, be sure to check out the rest of the design team's samples below.

Thanks so much for stopping by!         ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

I had these stamps out from a previous project and decided to play with them some more...this time on kraft instead of a white base. I'm entering this into the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge - a fun layout by Judy.

STAMPS: "Leaf Prints" Tim Holtz Collection by Stampers Anonymous; Bountiful Wreath by The Greetery (sentiment).

PAPER: Kraft, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Chocolate Chip (SU).
INK: Early Espresso, Real Red, Crushed Curry (SU).
DIES: Crimped Frame, Bountiful Wreath (The Greetery); Stitched Squares STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

Paper Players Theme

These weeks really zip by so quickly and another Sunday has rolled around already! That means a new Paper Players Challenge is posted and we have a theme week of grateful, thankful for you with an inspiration photo that's great to get your mojo going. The circular plate and fall colored berries immediately led me to the Bountiful Wreath stamp set and dies from The Greetery.

For me, using the Autumn Blessings sentiment is an indirect way of expressing gratitude, so I rebelled a bit and went with it - haha! I stamped the variety of wreath layers using my favorite fall inks by Stampin' Up: So Saffron (ink blending in the background), More Mustard (wheat), Cajun Craze (berries), Crushed Curry (mushrooms), Old Olive (leaves), Baked Brown Sugar (stems and sentiment).

CAS(E) This Sketch

In the paper crafting world, we all know today is World Cardmaking Day and the best part - besides actually crafting - is the wide number of sales happening today! :-) I was pretty good and only ordered 3 small items (Pixie Spray, long MISTI magnet and a 6x6" patterned paper pad). I won't list my LONG order from the Christmas release at The Greetery yesterday! LOL!

You've seen me use these patterned papers from Authentique's Poised bundle in previous projects. I just love this mustard and black plaid! Here is my take on the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge...

I had the flowers and leaves in my leftover pile, so all I did was stamp a new sentiment and cut a couple of black banner flags and a teeny scallop border and I was ready to assemble.

STAMPS: Fleur Impressions and Sentiment Suite: Birthday by The Greetery.
PAPER: True Black, White by Papertrey Ink; Poised 6x6" pad by Authentique.
INK: So Saffron, More Mustard by SU; Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Leafy dies by Verve; Fleur Impressions and Sentiment Suite Basics by The Greetery; Edge Impression and Stitched Flag Trio by Reverse Confetti.

Heading out to the grocery store, so that's it for now.   ~Wanda
