Color Throwdown

Hey, hey, hey...it's hump day and that means another new Color Throwdown Challenge is on board! Broni is our hostess and has a yummy color palette for us: aqua, purple, red, and lime green!

I inked up a portion of the French Script background stamp (retired by SU) with Wisteria Wonder ink.  I then added modeling paste
with a Hero Arts tweed pattern stencil.  After it dried, I sponged Wisteria Wonder ink over the raised design.  Then I proceeded to nearly cover it all up - lol!  I angled a frame (Verve's Rounded Scallop Frame) then layered die cut leaves (Mariana vine by Poppystamps), roses (MFT), sketch heart (Simon Says Stamp) and sentiment (Simon Says Stamp).   DP is from SU Fresh Prints pack.  I used Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for the layout.

Watercolor Valentine

I LOVED the Color Challenge on SCS to use Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Old Olive with a dessert of layers using 4 or more! I'm also playing along with the Retrosketches Challenge - what an awesome layout! I used the "smoosh and fling" technique (as I lovingly call it) for my background.  One of my faves to create a fun, watercolor look!  I smooshed Peeled Paint and Peacock Feathers distress inks on my craft mat then spritzed some water over it.  I placed watercolor paper face down and turned it...dabbing color on it here and there until I was satisfied with it.  After it was dry, I "flung" some Heidi Swapp gold color shine on the panel.  Easy peasy way to get an artsy look!  Then it was layering time.  Since I had the gold splatters, I gold embossed the sentiment on vellum and used a gold button embellishment.

Mojo Monday

Hi everyone! Here's my take on the new Mojo Monday Challenge.  As you can see, I took a break from my recent run of Valentine creations. The long panel was perfect for this Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane stamp by Verve (oops...I see it's temporarily sold out but a new shipment is due in February)! It's a very straightforward, no fuss type of card and I wanted it to be masculine yet have a pop of color.  I thought these SU Retro Fresh papers fit the bill and then I found this Recollections embellishment that was a perfect color match!

For more inspiration, be sure to check out the other mojomakers' creations by clicking on their blog links below OR you can go to the Mojo Monday blog and the first 8 thumbnails will be the mojomakers' cards.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge

February can be such a drab, dreary month but there's nothing drab or dreary going on in my stamp room today! I'm celebrating! Ever lose a VERY important LITTLE stamp???  I did just that yesterday and it was driving me crazy trying to search for it!  I even went through my entire trash basket - piece by piece!  I came home from work this evening and searched one more time and this time...I FOUND IT!!!  It may seem trivial to most people, but I'm sure my crafty friends can relate. :-)  That's why I went with happy, springtime colors for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge!  I'm also entering this into Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge with an "all things bright and beautiful" theme!

This Sour Apple CS from MFT is probably my fave green ever!  I layered up a couple of flag banners using papers from Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely Mini Deck pad.  The doily, leafy flourish and rolled florals are all Die-Namics by MFT.  The sentiment is from an oldie but goodie MFT set called "Spring".  Thanks so much for stopping by...

Color Throwdown

Are you ready for some awesome new Color Throwdown Challenge colors?  Bar is our hostess and she's chosen green, light blue, orange and dark blue.  So...I goofed and interpreted it as black.  Well...we say to use something close, so I'm calling this close - lol!  I was inspired by a video on Jennifer McGuire's blog that featured Dawn Woleslagle showing how to stamp florals and leaves with WPlus9 Pure Color dye inks then adding details and shading with Copics.  Let's just say I have a lot of practicing to do yet!

While the leaves suited me OK, the flowers just didn't have enough definition.  The ink just wanted to bleed more than I liked and appeared too blurry.  The next morning, I came back to the card and stamped the second detailed image using Crisp Cantaloupe by SU and then the definition was visible.  Some stamped off splat images and some sequins finished it off.

Hound Dogs on Houndstooth

I'm finally inking up these sweet pups from Reverse Confetti's Puppy Love set and playing along with the Retrosketches Challenge.  After stamping and coloring the images with Copics, I lined up the coordinating dies to cut them out.  Papers are from My Mind's Eye "Filled With Love" 6x6 pad.

I was also inspired by the colors in the current
Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: pink and red with a pop of black.

On a side note...if you're needing some new watermarks, you'll want to check out Karen Giron's updated selection on her blog HERE!  I don't have the patience to spend hours figuring out how to create them myself, so IMO it's worth the $3 per watermark! :-)
