Color Throwdown Challenge #804

Happy hump day! Once again, it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. This week, Amy Rohl  is hosting and has chosen purple, orange and yellow. They are rather intense colors yet I went ahead and created a sympathy card. The arched focal point is popped up with foam to give it more dimension.

I love the tiny floral sprays that can be arranged in many ways! The butterfly was "fussy cut" from the flutter frame cover plate die.

STAMPS: Elegant Arch, Inside Greetings: With Sympathy (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Amethyst Allure, New Leaf (PTI).
PAPER: Amethyst Allure, Bright Buttercup, Stampers Select White (PTI).
DIES: Elegant Arch, Cover Plate: Cross Stitched, Cover Plate: Flutter Frame (PTI).
OTHER: Twine

Here's hoping you will be able to join us in the challenge this week. Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Seize the Birthday

There's a fun new Tic Tac Toe challenge over on the Seize the Birthday blog! I chose the first vertical column with stripes, watercolor and slim line options. I had some leftover scraps of water coloring so I went with a pink swatch and cut several of the cake layers from it. I'm also entering this into the Just Us Girls challenge where it's stenciling week.

The background was stenciled using the Circle Dots stencil by Simon Says Stamp.

Word Art Wednesday

I was blessed by the devotional for the new Word Art Wednesday challenge today! It centers around II Corinthians 1:3-4 and speaks of God's comfort during trials and tribulations. We were also challenged to comfort others who might need this blessing which, in turn, gives God the praise! He is most definitely the "God of all comfort" which is also reflected in this verse from Psalm 94:19 - a stamp available in the Psalm Reflections series through Papertrey Ink.

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: March (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed distress inks (Ranger); New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse dye inks (PTI); White Gouache paint; Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment.

DIES: Border Bling: Lattice, Psalm Reflections: October (corner leaves), Psalm Reflections: March (joy), Into the Blooms: Dahlia, Love to Layer: Lovely Bracket - all by Papertrey Ink.
OTHER: Black enamel dots.

PTL for my husband being discharged home tomorrow from inpatient rehabilitation following hospitalization for stem cell transplant! He had a significant setback requiring two days in ICU but God answered prayers and he recovered from the serious bump in the road! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the prayers!  ~Wanda

The Paper Players

Jaydee has some awesome colors for The Paper Players challenge this week! I had to sneak a few green leaves in there but the primary colors are red, gray, black and white.

I love theses dies from the Into the Blooms: Poppies set by Papertrey Ink and thought they would work well with these colors.

I die cut all the pieces then colored them using a variety of distress inks. After dry, I splattered with darker shades and/or water to give it a mottled look.

STAMPS: Lush Bloom (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Lumberjack Plaid, Worn Lipstick, New Leaf, Crushed Olive distress inks (Ranger); Harvest Gold (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stampers Select: White, True Black (PTI); Free Spirit 6x6 pad by Reverse Confetti.

Let's Shell-ebrate

It's a sunny Saturday and we are STILL needing a good rain! We got a few sprinkles yesterday but that was all. Looks like lots of hand carried watering is in my forecast!

I wanted to play along with the new Inspired By...Challenge with a seashell theme. I love this Summer Shells die set from Papertrey Ink and went to town.

I used a variety of distress inks then sprayed with Sheer Shimmer "Sparkle" craft spray (which doesn't show up in photos). I first stenciled the Aqua Mist using the Watercolor Wonderful stencil by Papertrey Ink. I embellished with dew drops and popped the sentiment with foam tape for some added dimension.
