Color Throwdown #758

 

Happy hump day! It's Wednesday and that means a new Color Throwdown challenge is up. Lynn is hosting and has chosen pink, green, and magenta for the colors. I wanted to use an older but still much loved PTI stamp set called Effortless Beauties. I already had an extra Cover Plate: Jumbo Dots panel in my stash, then I layered up two of the medium sized frames.

I added some Crystal Stickles to the flowers and there you have it. A very quick and easy card to put together!

PTI August Release Day 4

Welcome to the last day of reveals for the August release at Papertrey Ink! Hope you've enjoyed everything so far...I know I enjoyed playing with everything. Today, we are introducing you to Build-A-Turkey dies + Fun Frames: Leaves dies + Delicate Trees Stencils + Give Thanks: Sentiments stamps + Cornered: Wheat Stalks dies.

Meet Tom who is just about the cutest turkey ever! I went with traditional colors but you could dress him up in any color you desire!

I didn't want to cover up much on the front, so went with a favorite line sentiment from the Tuck It Sentiments stamp set. I highlighted the debossed lines on his belly with a brown Prismacolor pencil then sponged around the edges of his body.

I love the new corner wheat stalk dies which I used in all four corners of a color blended background using Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover distress oxide inks.

I really got excited about the fonts in this Give Thanks Sentiments set...they are so awesome! I stamped with a black pigment ink then heat embossed with clear powder. I used the smallest of the 3 trees in the stencil set and it was perfect for this oval! Jute twine topped it all off.

PTI August Release Day 3

Welcome back to day #3 of the August release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Spider Web Stencils + Spooky Halloween stamps and dies + Farm Fresh Pumpkins stamps and dies + Watercolor Plaid Stencils.

I'll have to admit that these stencils are very fragile when trying to use brushes and dye ink, so I opted to smoosh the Versamark pad over the stencil then heat embossed with white powder! Woohoo! Great results!

I popped up that spider with a foam dot and added white string with scotch tape. I thought the jack-o-lantern would look rather hip with a witch's hat tilted on his head - lol! Love the splatter stamp that adds a bit of grunge element. The wood veneer stars topped it all off.

Next up is a really fun stamp and die set with a vintage truck and so many fall accessory options!

It pairs so well with the new Watercolor Plaid stencils! Love when I can create my own patterned papers to coordinate with the main images!

Love the straw, hay bale, sunflower, pumpkins and gourds, and the quilt that are just perfect for a tailgate party! Another great mix of fonts for the new sentiment set!

PTI August Release Day 2

Welcome back to day #2 of the August release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Love to Layer: Leaves dies + Leave It to Me stamps and dies + Elegant Edges: Wheat Stalks dies + Psalm Reflections stamps and dies + Border Bling: Falling Leaves dies.

Leaves, leaves and more leaves! One of my fave images to use for fall. The wheat stalks on the edge die is a beautiful new design! Love these fall patterned papers from PTI's collection...check it out! I even used the inlay pieces from the wheat stalk edge die and tucked them into the arrangement.

I smooshed distress inks onto Bristol Smooth Surface paper and dried between color layering. I then splattered with some yellow gold paint and continued with metallic gold paper for the sentiment and grid background.

In hindsight, I wish I had sponged the edges of the leaves to define them and make them stand out a bit more.

PTI August Release Day 1

Hello crafty friends! It's time to announce this month's release at Papertrey Ink and it's another great one! Today, we are introducing you to Exquisite Leaf Frame Hot Foil Plate + Fresh Florals stamps and dies + Frightful Frames dies + Spooky Treat Labels stamps and dies.

I strayed from routine "fall" colors and made this sympathy card applicable for giving all year long.

I started with Lemon Tart paper and hot foiled a panel using matte white foil. I have much more success with matte colors than I do with metallic colors. Not sure what makes the difference.

I stamped the sentiment on vellum then clear embossed it. This floral stamp/die set is so versatile with so many options for use. Next time I want to try creating a wreath...maybe even with a wreath builder template.

Next up are quite a few posts related to the Frightful Frames and Spooky Treat Labels sets.

I wanted to give you ideas for gifting young and old and decided to go with a gift box, some diaper fold favor holders and a gift card holder using the Brew To Go die set. This would be a good way to "treat" a mail carrier, store clerk, neighbor...the list goes on and on!

I used the same color themes throughout with papers from Doodlebug Designs' Monster Madness 6x6" pad (with exception of diaper folds).

Tags and embellishments were all stamped with a black pigment ink then embossed with clear powder. These pouches were folded using a 6" square of patterned paper with designs on front and back. Google "diaper fold" on You Tube for many quick tutorials. I'm giving you a bit of a sneak peek from another spooky set that will be revealed in 2 days (bats, spiders, etc.).

Since the one tag references " witches brew", I knew I had to go with this gift card set that was previously released last year.

TIPS:
1. Use coordinating papers to match up the treat containers with the cards that I will show you next.
2. Gift cards can easily be inserted into the Brew To Go cup or the diaper fold pouches.
