Color Throwdown

Welcome back to a new year with the Color Throwdown Challenge!  We have a fresh new look on the blog - thanks to the talented Barbara for her fabulous designing powers!  We also have some changes in the design team to announce.  We sadly are saying goodbye to one of the founding team members - Tammy Hershberger - whose presence and gorgeous samples will be greatly missed!  We're happily welcoming back Lynn Put, who was formerly on the team, plus we have a new girl on board - the ultra talented Lisa Henke!

Our January guest designer is the talented Amy Rysavy of Prairie Paper and Ink!  Welcome, Amy!

Last but not least...congrats to Stephanie Lanzalotto of My Ink Well - our guest star stamper this week!

So...moving on to the current challenge with these gorgeous colors chosen by our hostess Broni: aqua, light gray and orange!  Aren't they just so yummy?!  Here's my take on them...

I am so ready to switch gears and give up Christmas cards for some
florals for a change!  These 3 step stamped florals and leaves are from Altenew's Painted Flowers stamp set and the coordinating dies mean no fussy cutting is needed.  I'm also playing along with The Challenge over on the Always Playing with Paper blog by using Lesley's fabulous sketch!

Here's what else I used...
STAMPS: Wood Pallet Background (Altenew), Label Love (Altenew), Painted Flowers (Altenew).
PAPER: Tangerine Tango, Smoky Slate (SU); Tim Holtz watercolor CS; Silver glitter CS, White CS by PTI.
INK: Cracked Pistachio and Evergreen Bough distress inks used on the watercolor washed background; Memento Tuxedo Black; Smoky Slate, Tangerine Tango; Oasis Green VersMagic chalk ink and WPlus9's Ocean Drive used on leaves.
ACCESSORIES: Stitched circle, scallop border and vertical rectangle dies by Lil' Inker Designs; Stitched Fishtail Flags Die-Namics by MFT; Sequins.

For more inspiration, check out the design teams' blog links below OR you can go to the Color Throwdown blog for details on how to play along and you can see all the sample entries in one location.

  12. Gorgeous card! Those colors are amazing, and I love what you've done with them. That woodgrain and watercoloring are perfect together, and those flowers are just beautiful. The bit of glittery scallop and those sequins add just the right touch of sparkle. This is a stunning card! Love it. Bev
