Can you believe it's June already?! A new month means a new release at Our Daily Bread Designs and I hope you have your shades on because the sun will be shining on you as you "tool" through the designers' blogs on this release hop! :-) Since June is a month we celebrate fathers, what could be more fitting than some masculine stamps, dies and papers which I will be featuring on my two projects?! But first...here is how you can win some prizes...
Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the design team cards! You
have until June 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the designers' blogs for a chance to win! The winners will be posted on the
ODBD blog on June 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!
I was inspired by several tool chest side step cards on Pinterest and tweaked the ideas to make it my own using ODBD's new Tool Time dies, Pegboard and Hooks dies, and the World's Greatest stamp set. I am also using a patterned paper from the new Vintage Ephemera Collection on the pegboard. If you look closely, you will see the subtle pattern.
The Tool Time dies are just so much fun to create and "hang" on
the pegboard! I sponged the "metal" portion of the tools with Pumice Stone distress ink to make them appear aged. The handles were paper pieced. I used a label punch to cut out a decorative bottom for the tool chest. The saw was embossed with silver EP then I paper pieced some woodgrain paper on the handle.
Below is a side view of the step card...
For my second project, I created a Father's Day gift box to resemble a tool box and filled it with nuts and chocolates! This was a CASE of Lauren Meader's box she created HERE.
I inked up a woodgrain embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink then "stamped" it onto kraft cardstock. I used screw brads as embellishments and added a straw for the handle, some tape measure ribbon and an oval sentiment using the new Father's Day Tools stamp - colored with Copics.
I hope you've been inspired with these fun new masculine
stamps and dies! You can head on over to Our Daily Bread Designs blog to check
