Color Throwdown #745

Hi everyone! It's that time again for another Color Throwdown challenge with some of my fave colors! Susie is hosting and has chosen yellow, green and white.

It was a perfect opportunity to try out a new palette of Pentrista water colors from Amazon. There are a wide variety of intense colors within a good price range.

My base was color blended with Mint Julep and Vintage Jadeite dye inks by Papertrey Ink. I then die cut with the Border Bling: Tin Stitch die which gives it a quilted look. The sentiment layer was popped up with foam tape over a larger decorative bracket die.  The florals were cut from water color paper that I colored with a brush using Pentrista paints.

STAMPS: Frame Decor (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Mint Julep, Vintage Jadeite; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Ranger watercolor; White (PTI).
DIES: Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Into the Blooms: Clover, Love to Layer: Decorative Bracket (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

That's it for today. Hope you can play along with us at Color Throwdown!  ~Wanda

You Made My Day!

It's Memorial Day (yesterday at the time I made my card) and a somber time of remembering all those who gave their lives for our freedom in the US. It's been almost non-stop rain all day and our rain gauge shows 4 3/4 inches so far! 😲

I went with the patriotic colors inspired by the photo for The Card Concept challenge and I used the sketch for the current Paper Players challenge. I used a clean layered style for my design and I started by pulling patterned papers from the Stars & Stripes 6x6" pad then layered a skinny star frame (2 layers) over the base.

I used some new Pentrista paints that I just ordered recently from Amazon and really like the vibrant colors.  After the florals were dry, I added some touches of glitter paste.

Here's what I used:

STAMPS: Thank You Florals (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: White, Pure Poppy (PTI); Stars & Stripes 6x6" pad (MFT).
DIES: Thank You Florals, Border Bling: Skinny Star (PTI); Stitched Rectangle and Stitched Banner Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Glitter Paste (Recollections); Dew drops (PTI).

That's a wrap for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #744

It's Wednesday and that means there's a new Color Throwdown challenge happening!  Amy Rohl is hosting and has chosen pink, kraft, gray and white from this adorable bunny photo. Here's my take on it...

I started by stencilling white pigment ink onto Weathervane card stock using the Script Background stencil from Papertrey Ink.

I die cut the flowers and leaves from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blended ink onto the florals.

STAMPS: Lots of Hugs (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Harvest Gold, Classic Kraft, Weathervane, Pale Peony, Lovely Lady (PTI); Frost White (Color Box).
PAPER: Bitty Big: Pink Posey, Weathervane, Classic Kraft, White (PTI).
DIES: Lots of Hugs, Into the Blooms: Dahlia (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Script Background stencil (PTI).

That's a wrap for today! We'd love to have you play along with us. ~Wanda

70th Anniversary Card

What a milestone to celebrate 70 years of marriage, but that's exactly what a delightful couple from church accomplished! This was my card using The Greetery products (mostly) and they loved it.

I started by die cutting this pierced design from Altenew. I then used Bundled Sage and Rustic Wilderness distress inks on Bristol Smooth Surface paper. I cut out all the pieces to the Boxwood Heart then splattered with the darker green ink. The hollyhocks were leftover from a previous project which made this much quicker to assemble.

To soften the look, I used a corner chomper to round each corner.

STAMPS: Cake Please (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Distress inks; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; White (PTI); Platinum metallic.
DIES: Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover die (Altenew); Cake Please, Cake Creations (Papertrey Ink); BotaniCuts Hollyhocks, Boxwood Heart, Boxwood Heart Details, Fit To Be Tied (The Greetery).

Remember today is release day at Papertrey Ink at 10pm EST. There are tons of awesome new stamps/dies/hot plate, etc. you won't want to be without! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

PTI May Release Countdown Day 3

Hi everyone! It's day three of the release countdown at Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Larger Than Life: Baby Sentiments + Larger Than Life: Baby die + Baby Background stamps + Vase Collection 18 stamps and dies. Here are three projects I created.

I went with a monochromatic color scheme and didn't add much to the busy background which was white embossed on sage card stock.

I adhered two of the large baby dies to add more stability. The silver charm was added to a bow made with seam binding, narrow satin ribbon, silver cord and tulle ribbon.
A tiny sage strip was added for more visual interest.

STAMPS: Larger Than Life: Baby Sentiments, Baby Background.
INK: Versamark.
PAPER: White, Sage Shadow.
DIES: Larger Than Life: Baby.
OTHER: Simple Strips die; Flag Banner dies; White embossing powder, Silver charm; Ribbons; Silver cord.

Next up is my featured post for May. It involves two cards using the beautiful new vase and florals!

TIPS
1. Stamp some color variation by stamping the lightest of two shades first. Then take a small blending brush or sponge dauber and pounce on a darker color around some of the edges. Repeat until you get desired effect.
2. Rounding the card corners helps to soften the look.
3. Don't forget your buttons! They can add a fun element.

STAMPS: Vase Collection 18, Tuck It Sentiments.
INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse; Metropolis; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Patterned, White.
DIES: Vase Collection 18, Love to Layer: Ovals; Stitched Flags.
OTHER: Button.

Instead of stamping the colors, I used Copics to color in the image on the next card.

TIPS
1. Copic markers were used to color the florals. I find Memento ink works best to stamp the image to avoid "bleeding" of colors.
2. Twine is a great option instead of ribbon as it is less bulky and is easier to mail.
3. I love the smaller "one line" sentiments from the Tuck It Sentiments set when I don't want to cover up much of the design.

STAMPS: Vase Collection 18, Tuck It Sentiments.
INK: Enchanted Evening, Dark Indigo; Memento Tuxedo Black.
PAPER: Patterned; White; X-Press It Blending Card.
DIES: Vase Collection 18, Love to Layer: Delightful Brackets.
OTHER: Red & white thread; Copics ( Y08, YG13, YG17, G20, G43, R35, R46, R59, R22, R43, RV21, RV29).
