Freshly Made Sketches

Happy Friday to all my crafty friends! I wanted to play along with the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge! I had die cut some parts from The Greetery's Hoop and Fringe and Hoop Wreath sets for my granddaughter the other day, but we never got around to using them. I decided to put them together for this awesome sketch designed by Jen T.

I seldom do one layer cards so this is a first in awhile. :-) I used a black gel pen to highlight the flower centers.

STAMPS: Hoop Wreath (The Greetery).
INK: Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum, Raspberry Bliss, Ocean Breeze, Sunshine, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime dye inks (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: White (PTI), Gray (? source).
DIES: Hoop Wreath, Hoop & Fringe, Macrame Diamonds (The Greetery).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a greet weekend!  ~Wanda

New items will be available to purchase in the PTI store at 10pm ET tonight, so get those shopping lists ready!  ~Wanda

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: January, Feathered Friends Mini 15
INK: Kitsch Flamingo, Cracked PIstachio, Mustard Seed distress spray stain; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Evergreen Bough, Cracked PIstachio, Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet distress inks; Harvest Gold, Dark Chocolate
PAPER: White, Vellum, Bright Buttercup, Bristol Smooth Surface
DIES: Psalm Reflections: January, Mix & Mat: Postal, Cover Plate: Flutter, Floral Delicacies, Feathered Friends Mini 15
OTHER: Clear embossing powder, Enamel dots

TIPS:
1. Distress spray stains are a fun new medium to create a quick and colorful background.
2. Pull colors from the background to blend onto the bird stamps.
3. Adhering vellum is easier if you add some enamel dots, die cuts, etc. to the sentiment. It lets you add liquid glue behind these elements.

PTI January Release Day #4

Hello and welcome to the last day of reveals for the Papertrey Ink January release. Tomorrow at 10pm ET, the items will be available to purchase. Today, we are introducing you to Psalm Reflections: January stamps and dies + Welcome to the Neighborhood + Welcome to the Neighborhood On the Move stamps and dies.

I love white embossing on vellum which allows the stenciled background to shine through. Don't be afraid to let your embellishments hang over the edge...just use a larger size envelope.
I like to cut at least two (and sometimes three) sentiment dies. It gives more dimension and is sturdier to adhere to the card.

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: January
INK: Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Wilted Violet, Villainous Potion, brushed Corduroy distress inks; Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, True Black; Versamark
PAPER: White, Vellum, Amethyst Allure; Bristol Smooth Surface
DIES: Pierced Feature Frames
OTHER
: White embossing powder, Berry Branches stencil

I wanted to create a second card using this beautiful Psalm sentiment as the focal point. I recently acquired some distress spray stains and went with these three colors for the background" Cracked Pistachio, Mustard Seed and Kitsch Flamingo. I then adhered the butterfly cover panel then the vellum layer.

I pulled colors from the background to use for the bird. It will need a larger envelope but postage won't be any more.

STAMPS
: Psalm Reflections: January, Feathered Friends Mini 15.
INK: Kitsch Flamingo, Cracked PIstachio, Mustard Seed distress spray stain; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Evergreen Bough, Cracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet distress inks; Harvest Gold, Dark Chocolate.
PAPER: White, Vellum, Bright Buttercup, Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Psalm Reflections: January, Mix & Mat: Postal, Cover Plate: Flutter, Floral Delicacies, Feathered Friends Mini 15.
OTHER: Clear embossing powder, Enamel dots.

My next two cards feature stamps & dies that are totally new to me: moving themed images!

It was so fun to create this little scene with some stenciled clouds then layered with die cut clouds. Luggage, boxes, accessories, etc. are all fun images to build up your scene!

The twine adds a pop of texture and color and helps to balance out the design.

STAMPS: Welcome to the Neighborhood: On the Move.
INK: Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal, Pure Poppy, True Black, Green Parakeet, Harvest Gold, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean, Classic Kraft, Soft Stone, Weathervane, Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Scarlet Jewel, Dark Indigo, Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, New Leaf.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White.
DIES: Welcome to the Neighborhood: On the Move, Love is Everywhere (clouds).
OTHER: Stitched rectangle die, Red & white thread, Cloud stencil.

Next up is a card that will let people know you have moved. I thought it would be fun to include the tandem bike from an older set with the new stamps.

STAMPS: Welcome to the Neighborhood, Anywhere Together.
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne, Harvest Gold, Honey Nut, Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, Dark Indigo, Spring Rain, Simply Chartreuse, Limeade Ice, Weathervane, Fine Linen, Cocoa Bean, Classic Kraft.

Color Throwdown #727

It's Wednesday and that means a new Color Throwdown challenge is up and running! Lori is hosting and has chosen pink, green and mustard colors. I knew I wanted to "think spring" and created a bouquet of  tulips using Papertrey Ink's Into the Blooms: Tulip die set. I die cut all the floral pieces and leaves from Bristol Smooth Surface paper, then squished the distress ink colors onto my glass mat, spritzed with water and "painted" the different pieces.

After all the florals were dry, I splattered water over it all using a paint brush. The mottled effect adds an element of texture.

STAMPS: Tag It Minis (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint distress inks (Ranger); Versafine Clair Nocturne (Tsukineko).
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; White.
DIES: Border Bling: Blooming Hearts, Into the Blooms: Tulips, Tag It Minis (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Ribbons.

We'd love to have you play along! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

PTI January Release Day #3

Welcome back to day three of the January release at Papertrey Ink. Remember, everything will be available to purchase on the 26th at 10pm ET. Today, we are introducing you to Larger Than Life: Home dies + Larger Than Life: Home Sentiments stamps + Into the Blooms: Cherry Blossoms dies + In the Pocket dies + Party Time stamps.

This would be a perfect card to welcome someone with a new home or maybe to gift a realtor friend for sharing with customers.
I chose to use one of the die cut houses in the Bring Home the Holidays die set (released earlier) to insert into the "O" part of home. The base panel was foiled with silver foil on Dark Indigo paper.

STAMPS: Larger Than Life: Home
INK: Enchanted Evening
PAPER: Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, Classic Kraft, White
DIES: Larger Than Life: Home, Delicate Circle, Love to Layer: Hearts, Bring Home the Holidays
OTHER: Silver foil, Stargazing hot foil plate, Stitched Rectangle die, Banner die

You know this flower lover was in seventh heaven when I spotted these new dies! We don't live too far from the famous Cherry Blossom Festival in northern VA but visiting that area when they are in bloom is on my bucket list.

I added a touch of golden sparkle to the stamen tips with a Clear Star Gellyroll pen. All of the florals/leaves were die cut first from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blended with brushes.

STAMPS: Birthday Tag Kit
INK: Sweet Blush, Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Autumn Rose, Classic Kraft, Cocoa ean, Green Parakeet, Simply Chartreuse
PAPER: Bitty Big: Green Parakeet, White
DIES: Into the Blooms: Cherry Blossoms, Love to Layer: Ovals, Birthday Tag Kit
OTHER: Clear Star Gellyroll pen; Button

This goes back to the birthday theme and the stamps easily lend themselves to creating your own party invitations.

There's no end to the possible combinations of birthday elements for any birthday occasion!

STAMPS: Birthday Background, Party Time, Iconic Birthday
INK: Raspberry Fizz, Versafine Clair Nocturne
PAPER: Green Parakeet, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, White

PTI January Release Day #2

Welcome back to day two of the January release at Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Birthday Tag Kit + Birthday Background & Birthday Celebration stamps + Love to Layer: Decorative Bracket dies + Iconic Birthday stamps and dies + Birthday Celebration dies. For me, birthdays are the biggest category of cards that I create for so, these new stamps and dies are a welcomed variety!

This background stamp is a great way to create a quick card! I stamped it with a pigment black ink then added clear embossing powder. You can add the color blending before or after the stamping/embossing step (I did it before).

The scalloped edge die and the dry embossed strip are so versatile to use with many card designs.

STAMPS: Birthday Background
INK: Twisted Citron, Carved Pumpkin, Kitsch Flamingo, Peacock Feathers distress inks; Versafine Clair Nocturne
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White, True Black
DIES: Birthday Tag Kit, Birthday Celebration Bling
OTHER: Simple Strips dies; Clear embossing powder

Celebrating a birthday? How about some cute packaging to present a gift?! I started with the Scallop Top Gift Box die and layered up some patterned squares with some sweet little iconic birthday images. To close the box, I used aqua and white seam binding with some polka dotted tulle ribbon. I'm so sad that I can't find a source for more tulle ribbon as my supply is quickly dwindling.

STAMPS: Iconic Birthday
INK: Raspberry Fizz, Bright Buttercup, Hawaiian Shores
PAPER: Sugar Shoppe (Doodlebug Design patterned 6x6 pad); Lovely Lady, White
DIES: Scallop Top Gift Bag; Love to Layer: Decorative Bracket; Love to Layer: Squares
OTHER: Ribbon, Seam binding
