Color Throwdown #708

Good Wednesday everyone! It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and Lynn is hosting this week with pink, coral, dark purple and green. I opted to use this Feathered Friend 22 die set from Papertrey Ink instead of florals. Shocker!

This ended up being lots of layers with some patterned papers from the new Gather At Home 6x6" pad by Carta Bella. I die cut the bird from Bristol Smooth Surface paper and color blended all the parts. After assembling the bird, I splattered Permanent White Gouache with a brush.

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 8 (branch), Vintage Flair (sentiment) - both by Papertrey Ink.
INK: Bright Buttercup, Amethyst Allure, Lovely Lady, Berry Sorbet, Pinefeather, Dark Chocolate (PTI dye inks).
PAPER: Gather At Home patterned paper (Carta Bella); Vintage Jadeite, White, True Black, Vellum (PTI).
DIES: Feathered Friends 22, Feathered Friends Mini 8, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Floral Delicacies (leafy spray) - Papertrey Ink; Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: White embossing powder; Permanent White Goache paint.

We'd love to have you play along with this color challenge. Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Squeeze the Day!

I wanted to play around with my lemons again, so found the Freshly Made Sketches challenge to be a great layout for them. My stitched squares are not the size I would have liked, but went with them anyway and covered up the larger gap with popping up some lemons and leaves.

I cut a card base that would be 4 1/2" square when folded in half. I then cut another white square and stenciled the lemons with Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed distress inks. The leaves were stenciled next with Limeade Ice and Simply Chartreuse dye inks by Papertrey Ink.
The accent lemons and leaves had details stamped on them then a slight bit of Crystal Stickles were added.

STAMPS: Squeeze the Day (Taylored Expressions).
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface.
INK: See above description.
DIES: Squeeze the Day (Taylored Expressions); Gina K. Designs Master Loyouts 08; Stitched Squares STAX DieNamics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Oval punches by Stampin' Up.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #707

I am running late with my post for the new Color Throwdown challenge. Typically, I work ahead and for some reason, this week slipped right on by and it wasn't until this morning that I realized I had no card for today. Lori is hosting and has chosen mustard yellow, navy and turquoise. I quickly pulled the Captivating Cattails stamp/die set from Papertrey Ink and paired it with a Jumbo Curiosity Dragonfly die & stencil set from The Greetery.

I stamped the water with Hawaiian Shores and Enchanted Evening dye inks (PTI). The cattails were stamped with Prairie Grass and Honey Nut (PTI). I switched to distress oxide inks for blending the dragonfly and used Mustard Seed, Salvaged Patina, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey and Brushed Corduroy.

DIES: Love to Layer: Torn Edges (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

That's all for now...come and play along with us!  ~Wanda

Hoop & Fringe

Finally, I got to try out some new stencil and die combos from The Greetery. First up, I used the Jumbo Curiosity Butterfly die and stencil set and paired it with the Hoop & Fringe dies. I added a floral swag with images from the Hoop Wreath set. I kept it simple and realized I had stuck to a one layer card design which you don't see often from me!

I stuck tiny squares of foam tape under the top two wings to add more dimension to the butterfly. The centers of the yellow flowers were highlighted with a black gel pen.

STAMPS: Hoop Wreath (The Greetery).
PAPER: White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink).
INKS: Pale Peony, Hibiscus Burst, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, Honey Nut, Dark Chocolate, True Black (dye inks by Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Jumbo Curiosity Butterfly, Hoop & Fringe, Hoop Wreath (The Greetery).
OTHER: Crystal Stickles, Ice White pearl pen.

CAS Nautical

It's been a VERY rainy Sunday (5 inches in the rain gauge - level was at the top so it might have been even more!) so it's been good for playing along with a couple of challenges. The Paper Players have a CAS nautical theme happening and Just Us Girls has a color challenge using teal, yellow and tan. I pulled out some stamps and dies by Papertrey Ink and this was the result.

I had this tan watercolor panel in my leftover stash for a long time so I'm guessing that I used Scattered Straw distress ink but am not positive. The sunflower and leaves were die cut from leftover watercolor papers then splattered with water and Permanent White Gouache. Icicle Stickles were added to the petals.

STAMPS: Seas of Life (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Vintage Cream (PTI), Watercolor paper by Ranger.
INK: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, True Black, Weathervane, Prairie Grass.
DIES: Into the Blooms: Sunflower, Seas of Life (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER:  White cord; Icicle Stickles; Burlap; Rain drop embellishments.

That's a wrap for the weekend. Thanks for stopping by!  ~Wanda

You're the Zest!

I recently ordered the fun Squeeze the Day lemon stencil set with matching stamps from the Squeeze the Day stamp set from Taylored Expressions. I have to admit that I was spurred on by knowing our 6 year old grandson's 1st grade teacher has their room decorated in a lemon theme this year.

After completing the two step stenciled background on Fine Linen card stock, I adhered a vellum circle after adding the stamped elements. I popped up the sentiment and trio of die cut lemons with foam tape. A little jute twine topped it off.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to "squeeze the day"! :-)   ~Wanda

Backpack Gift Card Holders

I am loving this new gift card holder die that was just released in
Papertrey Ink's August release. I had posted just the backpack on  reveal day #1 but decided to tweak it a bit by adding a notebook and adhering it to a card base. You can see the details of what I used on this post.

Patterned papers are Bitty Big: Soft Stone and Bitty Big: Raspberry Fizz by PTI.

I wanted to create a second one so that I could make them available for teachers for our grand kids. My second one is very similar with a slightly different arrangement of the cute fillers you can add to the bag.

The bags have the option of tucking a gift card or money into a slot behind the handle.

STAMPS: Go To Gift Card Holder: Backpack Accessories
PAPER: My Mind's Eye Kate & Co "Oxford Lane" 6x6" patterned paper; Navy blue (Reverse Confetti); White (Papertrey Ink); Metallic silver.
INK: Harvest Gold, True Black, Pure Poppy, Weathervane, Honey Nut, Sweet Blush, Orange Zest, Limeade Ice, Green Parakeet (Papertrey Ink); Navy Blue (Reverse Confetti).
DIES: Go to GC Holder: Backpack (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

Tomorrow I will share a card with a lemon theme using a fun new stencil and matching stamp set from Taylored Expressions. Have a great weekend!  ~Wanda

It's Release Day!

It's finally release day for the new August goodies at Papertrey Ink! The designers are holding an Instagram hop that you don't want to miss since winners (gift card to the PTI store) will be chosen from the comments on each step of the hop! Here is my card entry for the hop using the favorite new hot foil Fallen Leaves plate and the Fantastic Foliage stamp and die set.

I used a turquoise color foil sheet on Glimmer Specialty card stock by Spellbinders (my favorite choice for successful foiling!). Then I color blended Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire distress inks.

I used those same colors of distress ink to stamp the leaves then splattered with Permanent White Gouache paint. The sentiment and two of the leaves were popped up with foam tape. I'm thinking I will put this aside and use it for pastor appreciation month in October.

DIES: Love to Layer: Notched (Papertrey Ink); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy shopping!   ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge

Welcome back to another Fusion Card Challenge! It's a color palette this week with a "Seagull Beach" theme. I combined stamps from different sets and omitted the sketch this time. I used Pinkfresh Studio ink cubes for everything except the True Black ink (Papertrey Ink) for the sentiment.

I blended Ballet Slipper ink then stamped the clouds with more Ballet Slipper and some Coral Reef. The water was stamped with Ocean Breeze and Sky Blue. The sun was a combination of Lemon Whip, Sunshine and Sweet Mustard. The plants were stamped with Mint and Meadow inks. I used Metropolis and Misty Coast on the canoe and Rocky Slope for the ground in the foreground. The oars were stamped with Cocoa Bean ink from PTI.

STAMPS: Sunset Skies (The Greetery); Seas of Life, Scene Everywhere: At the Lake (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Crimped Frames (The Greetery).

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge! Happy stamping!

Papertrey Ink Reveal Day #4

Welcome back to the fourth and final day of reveals of the August release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Pumpkin House dies + Happy Owl-O-Ween stamps and dies + Inside Greetings: Spooky stamps.

How cute is this scene?! Not going to lie...it has many small pieces and is a bit more time-consuming that most cards but the result is so fun!
I color blended the background with distress inks to hopefully convey a spooky sky. Note the intricate details on the toadstools and candy corn. 💖 I'm thinking this will be a hit with a couple of grands!

Inside of card--->

STAMPS: Boo Black Cat (sentiment)
INK: Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin, Crackling Campfire, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral, Kitsch Flamingo, Broken Chine distress; True Black, Dark Chocolate, Honey Nut, Amethyst Allure, Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Canyon Clay, Limeade Ice, Ripe Avocado, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; True Black, White
DIES: Pumpkin House, Shape Shifters: Circle 1

I started with dry embossing bricks using a 3D folder from Stampin' Up. I used white card stock and then colored with 3 distress inks and tore off a portion of the panel to accommodate the sentiment. This set has some really fun little details like the stitched and cross stitch borders!

You don't want to forget the inside of the card--->  I matched the inside greeting with a pumpkin from Fall Farmer's Market and a broom from Witches Brew. I also highlighted the star using a Gelly Roll Clear Star pen.

STAMPS: Witches Brew, Happy Owl-O-Ween, Inside Greetings: Spooky, Fall Farmers Market
INK: Speckled Egg, Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky distress; Dark Indigo, True Black, Classic Kraft, Fine Linen; Misty Coast, Rocky Slope, Metropolis, Licorice (Pinkfresh Studio)
PAPER: White
DIES: Happy Owl-O-Ween

OTHER: Bricks and Mortar 3D embossing folder; GellyRoll Clear Star pen

Color Throwdown #706

It's hump day and that means another Color Throwdown challenge is up and running! Lisa is hosting this week and was inspired by this awesome crafty storage area to use aqua, lime green and white.

I color blended some Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers distress ink onto Bristol Smooth Surface paper. I then splattered with Peacock Feathers and Permanent White Gouache. The beautiful Cover Plate: Flutter does most of the "work" and all I had to add was a sentiment that I white embossed on black.

STAMPS: Wild Fields (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versamark; Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers distress ink.
PAPER: White, True Black (PTI).
DIES: Cover Plate: Flutter, Beautiful Bouquet Tag.
OTHER: Black and white thread by Recollections.

We would love to have you play along and possibly be chosen for our guest star stamper. Happy stamping!  ~Wanda
