Color Throwdown #703

Hi crafty friends! It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge! Broni is hosting and has some great colors: powder blue, cream and kraft. Initially I was thinking "beach" but then went with some older dies by MFT and PTI and went with a "baby" theme.

I layered up two bib die cuts using Vintage cream paper. Images were stamped with Blueberry Sky ink by PTI. I added a button to the bib and a baby rattle to the twine bow for sweet little accents! A touch of Crystal Stickles to the heart topped it off.

STAMPS: Wonderful Words: Baby (Papertrey Ink); Beautiful Baby (My Favorite Things).
INK: Blueberry Sky (PTI).
PAPER: Distressed Floral 6x6" pad (The Paper Studio); Classic Kraft,  Vintage Cream (PTI).
DIES: Blueprints 27, Baby's Bib, Beautiful Baby (My Favorite Things); Wonderful Words: Baby (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Twine, Crystal Stickles, Button.

We'd love to have you join us this week! You might just get picked to be our guest star stamper for the next challenge! Happy stamping!                                               ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

I'm coming in under the wire for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I wanted to try out a new camouflage stencil from Erin Lee Creative and it was so much fun! Our 6 y.o. grandson loves "camo" clothes and he likes to "craft with Nana", so this will be fun for him to create with as well! This was my first attempt and I didn't get the 3 stencils lined up very well...but...will do better next time - haha.

STAMPS: Mashup Birthday (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Antique Linen, Peeled Paint, Frayed Burlap distress inks.
PAPER: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Mashup Birthday (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful day!   ~Wanda

Release Day is Here!

Release day is finally here and you'll be able to buy new products in the Papertrey Ink store at 10:00pm ET! I'm part of an Instagram hop that will start at 2pm this afternoon so thought I'd coordinate my blog post with that event.

I love the sweet embellishments in the Crafting Queen stamp set and started this card with a variety of patterned papers from the Share the Heart: Basket of Blooms pack. When I adhered the mug, I did not glue down the top portion of the mug in case I wanted to tuck in some money for a gift to a crafty friend!

STAMPS: Crafting Queen (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Honey Nut, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, True Black, Fine Linen, Harvest Gold, Raspberry Fizz, Weathervane (dye inks by PTI).
PAPER: Share Your Heart: Basket of Blooms, White, Vintage Cream (PTI).
DIES: Crafting Queen, The Mug, Mix & Mat: Postal die, Stitched Rectangle.
OTHER: Seam binding.

Happy shopping and happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge

Hi friends and welcome to a new Fusion Card Challenge! We have a beach theme happening in the tiered tray in the inspiration photo so, I was totally inspired by that as well as the great sketch! I went to some trusty stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink to complete my card: Salt Air Sentiments, Salt Air: Flora, Salt Air: Fauna.

The patterned papers are from the Beach Cottage 6x6" pad by Creative Imaginations. The card base is white heavyweight paper from PTI. Several of the images were popped up with foam tape to add dimension. Rain drop embellishments finished up the design.

INK: True Black, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, New Leaf, Limeade Ice, Berry Sorbet, Fine Linen, Honey Nut (dye inks by Papertrey Ink).

We would love to have you join us in the challenge. See you in the gallery!  ~Wanda

PTI July Release Day 4

Welcome back to the fourth and final day of reveals for this month's release at Papertrey Ink! Remember, release day is tomorrow when items will be available to purchase in the PTI store at 10pm ET. Today, we are introducing you to Cornered: Wispy Trees dies + Inside Greetings: You're On My Mind stamps + Dotted Hexagon stencils.

TIPS:
1. Choose to inlay a different color into the leafy corner die cut.
2. Use an adhesive sheet for the backing of the die cut panel to avoid the messiness of using glue to adhere the tiny pieces.
3. Using vellum helps to soften the look plus it doesn't cover up as much of the background.

STAMPS: Inside Greetings: You're On My Mind, Graceful Wings
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, True Black; Versamark
PAPER: Aqua Mist, White, True Black, Vellum, Share Your Heart: Bottles & Blooms
DIES: Graceful Wings, Cornered: Wispy Trees, Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border, Love to Layer: Ovals
OTHER: Black embossing powder, WOW! Opaque Bright White Regular embossing powder

My second card...

TIPS:
1. Let the corner dies have a dry embossed look by carefully turning over the paper after die cutting and apply tape to the back to prevent the small leaves from falling out.
2. Give the doily die some pizzazz by also cutting it from black card stock then inlaying the black "leaves".
3. Angle a second tag that is cut from patterned paper to add more visual interest.

STAMPS: Inside Greetings: You're On My Mind, Sprigs & Sprays: Fall
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Weathervane, Smokey Shadow, Canyon Clay
PAPER: Vintage Cream, True Black, Poised 6x6" patterned pack (Authentique)
DIES: Sprigs & Sprays: Fall, Charming Tag, Delicate Doilies, Cornered: Wispy Trees

Next is my third card highlighting the Cornered: Leaves dies.

TIPS:
1. Try layering corner dies to add more interest.
2. Use the adorable scissors stamp/die to add a fun action "cut".
3. Add large foam dots behind the "cut" flaps to give more dimension.

STAMPS: Crafting Queen, Vintage Blooms, Just Sentiments: You're On My Mind
INK: True Black, Weathervane, Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise
PAPER: Share Your Heart: Basket of Blossoms, Vintage Cream, Spring Moss
DIES
: Cornered: Wispy Tree, Vintage Blooms
OTHER: Traditional Tags, Twine

Lastly, I have a card using a really awesome new stencil set called Dotted Hexagon stencils.

This is the smaller of the two hexagon stencils. I used Enchanted Evening ink with the stencil but then used Dark Indigo paper since I wanted a darker contrast.

STAMPS: Inside Greetings: You're On My Mind
INK: Dark Indigo, Enchanted Evening, Fine Linen, Honey Nut, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Bright Buttercup, Limeade Ice
PAPER: Dark Indigo, White; Bristol Smooth Surface
DIES: Into the Blooms: Orchids, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical die
OTHER: Prismacolor pencils, Rain drops, Dotted Hexagon stencils

That brings reveals to a close. Get your shopping list ready for reveal day tomorrow! Also...don't miss the Instagram blog hop tomorrow on release day for a nutshell look at the new goodies!  ~Wanda

PTI July Release Day 3

Hi crafty friends and welcome to day three of reveals for the July release at Papertrey Ink! New items will be available on the 21st at 10pm ET so get your wish list ready! Today, we are introducing you to Crafting Queen stamps and dies + Cover Plate: Flutter Frame die + Cover Plate: Flutter dies + Tag-Its Mini stamps and dies.

While I love the butterfly frame die, I'm most excited about the tiny tags that are being released! So often, my card front is pretty filled up and there doesn't seem to be room for a sentiment. These mini tags are so easy to tuck in and not take up much real estate!

The card base was created by using a dry embossing folder then swiping a Versamark pad over the panel and adding silver embossing powder. I added vellum behind the small center frame.

I find it easiest to adhere the cover plate die by spraying with Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive (do it in a protected area like a box or the trash can).

STAMPS: Tag It: Minis, Cake Creations
Ink: Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Lilac Grace, Almost Amethyst, Spring Moss, New Leaf, Green Parakeet, Simply Chartreuse, Enchanted Evening
PAPER: Soft Stone, Enchanted Evening, White, Vellum
DIES: Cover Plate: Flutter Frame, Pierced Feature Frames, Tag It: Minis, Cake Creations
OTHER: Sizzix embossing folder, Silver embossing powder, Silver cord

The background panel was color blended with distress inks then splattered with water. This beautiful cover plate die was adhered by spraying with Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive.

The heart was popped up with foam tape and I thought the sentiment (from the Crafting Queen set) would be perfect to gift someone with some homemade sweets!

STAMPS: Crafting Queen
INK: Salty Ocean, Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio distress inks; True Black
PAPER: White; Bristol Smooth Surface
DIES: Cover Plate: Flutter, Crafting Queen
OTHER: Stitched Circle die

Last but not least, I want to share a small basket vignette created with the Crafting Queen set. I bought this basket at Michael's many months ago thinking I would eventually find a use for it. I love creating decor for my craft room and this was a fun project! The "junk bow" included some tape measure ribbon and the trio of "real" buttons has been in my stash forever. I made a feminine version of the Baseball T die and elevated it over a small 1/2" high box.
