PTI Release Day is Here!

The day has come! Tonight at 10pm EST everyone can buy the new release products at Papertrey Ink! I loved so many things about the new products and especially love having many more options for masculine cards!

I was inspired with the colors Betty Wright used in her one card with the Corrugated Metal Background stamp set so I went with the same and was very happy with the end result! I started with Classic Kraft card stock and first stamped the grout layer with Stormy Sea using my MISTI stamp positioner. A large area stamp doesn't always stamp as completely as I'd like so a positioner is a must have tool! I then used the second stamp with a combination of Classic Kraft and Cocoa Bean inks. I used a sponge dauber to lightly stamp at random spots with Stormy Sea ink.

I used the Special Guy mini stencils to overlay the sentiment using Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold and Prairie Grass inks. The Delicately Woven die was cut from kraft paper and the corrugated metal background was run through a crimper to add more texture.

STAMPS: Special Guy, Corrugated Metal Background (PTI).
INK: Stormy Sea, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, Prairie Grass dye inks (PTI).
PAPER: Stormy Sea, Classic Kraft, Vintage Cream (PTI).
DIES: Delicately Woven, Special Guy, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles (PTI).

I will need lots of masculine birthday cards in June so this card will help build my stash. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy stamping!

Fusion Card Challenge

Welcome to a new Fusion Card Challenge where the inspiration photo has a color palette of blues with butterflies. I chose to omit the sketch this time because I wanted to use this butterfly cover plate which is an oldie but goody die from Papertrey Ink.

I smooshed several distress inks onto Bristol Smooth Surface paper: Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Speckled Egg, Broken China, Prize Ribbon.  After it dried, I splattered some Prize Ribbon ink over the background.

I layered two of the cover plate butterflies to give it more dimension. To be honest...I smeared some blue accidentally over the first layer - haha!

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: With Sympathy (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Speckled Egg, Broken China, Prize Ribbon distress ink; Enchanted Evening dye ink (PTI).
PAPER: Enchanted Evening (PTI); Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Cover Plate: Butterfly Hope (PTI); Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

This was such a quick and easy card to create!

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge! Happy stamping!         ~Wanda

PTI Day 4 April Reveal

Welcome back to the fourth and last day of reveals of the April release at Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Feathered Friends 22 dies + Cornered: Leaves dies + Brick Wall and Barbed Wire Stencils.

I am finally showcasing the beautiful woven background die which adds such a great textured detail. The tin stitch die that frames the card is another favorite of mine that was released awhile back. I find myself returning to the new Berry Branches stencil set from last month over and over as it's so easy to use and creates gorgeous backgrounds!

TIPS:
1. Add multiple texture details through dry embossing stitches and scallops.
2. Pop up the florals, leaves and sentiment with foam tape to add dimension.
3. Cut all the parts of the bird from white card stock then blend colors with brushes or sponge daubers to match the stenciled background colors.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Everyday, Feathered Friends Mini 8, Blossoming Branches
INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Cocoa Bean, Honey Nut, Vintage Jadeite, Ocean Tides, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, True Black
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White
DIES: Feathered Friends 22, Delicately Woven, Border Bling: TIn Stitch, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical die, Blossoming Branches
OTHER: Berry Branches stencil, Moonshine sequins, Basic Sentiment Suite die

My second card highlights the new bird dies and corner leaves dies. The background was smooshed with Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers distress inks then splattered with black paint.

I highlighted the markings on the bird with Prismacolor pencils to make them stand out more.

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 22, Just Sentiments: Everyday
INK: Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers distress ink; True Black, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Harvest Gold, Limeade Ice, Olive Twist, Orange Zest, Cocoa Bean, Fine Linen, Honey Nut
PAPER: Bristol Smooth, White
DIES: Cornered: Leaves, Feathered Friends 22
OTHER: Crystal Stickles, Prismacolor pencils

My last card features an arrangement of the corner leaves dies that mimics a cover plate design.

Layering the leafy die layer over a colorful patterned background makes the design pop even more.

STAMPS: Vintage Lantern, Just Sentiments: Everyday
INK: Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Pale Peony, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, True Black
PAPER: Rustic Cream, Share Your Heart patterned paper
DIES: Cornered: Leaves, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles
OTHER: Stitched rectangle dies, Moonshine sequins

I am also sharing a couple of card using the Brick Wall and Barbed Wire stencils that will be part of the new release.

This is a 2 part stencil and I first stenciled the grout layer using Black Soot distress ink. For the second stencil layer, I applied Distress Texture Paste Crackle which added a lot of texture.

STAMPS: Captivating Cattails, Vase Collection 8, Just Sentiments: Everyday.
INK: Honey Nut, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, True Black; Black Soot distress ink.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; White (PTI); Tim Holtz Idea-ology 12 x 12" designs "Lost and Found" and "Vintage Shabby".
DIES: Captivating Cattails, Vase Collection 8.
OTHER: Brick Wall stencils, Jute twine, Distress Texture Paste Crackle, Sentiment Suite Basics die.

The barbed wire stencil is only one layer. I wanted the wire to be silver so I used a matte metallic silver card stock and then sponged Rusty Hinge and Hickory Smoke distress inks over the stencil. It gives a very subtle background.

STAMPS: Captivating Cattails, Vase Collection 8.
INK: Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs, Black Soot distress inks; Honey Nut, Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado.
PAPER: Saffron Spice, Honey Nut, Vintage Cream, Matte Metallic Silver.
DIES: Captivating Cattails, Vase Collection 8, Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border.
OTHER: Barbed Wire stencil, Jute twine.

Color Throwdown #690

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge! Yours truly is hosting and the colors are navy, mustard and gray. I am seeing so much of this mustard yellow color in interior decorating and clothing so guess I was drawn to try it on a card.

I love playing with the new Baseball T die and the Special Guy stamps with coordinating stencils and dies that are part of the April release at PTI! Yes...my A2 card base is a bit small for the angled shirt, but it's all good! I will just use a slightly larger envelope.

STAMPS: Special Guy (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Sweet Mustard, Sapphire, Misty Coast, Metropolis, Licorice dye inks (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: Hello Honey, Basic Gray, Moonlight designer series paper stack (Stampin' Up); Bristol Smooth Surface; Metallic silver.
DIES: Baseball T, Special Guy (PTI); Stitched Rectangle + Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Brick stencil, Special Guy stencils (PTI).

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge. Happy stamping!

PTI Day 3 April Reveal

Welcome back to the third day of reveals for the April release at Papertrey Ink. It's all about the guys today where we introduce you to Special Guy stamp set and dies + Delicately Woven die + Baseball T dies + Just Sentiments: Everyday stamp set.

I had our middle son in mind with my mini slimline card that references music elements. He plays drums for a local band and was back at it this past weekend with a local gig in Crozet. Covid put a damper on concerts for a couple of years but things are getting back to normal again in our area.

I created my own "records" by using a 1", 1/2" and 1/8" punches. I also wanted to separate the trio of stars die so I fussy cut them so I could more randomly scatter them over the card.
STAMPS: Special Guy
INK: Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, True Black
PAPER: Bitty Big: True Black, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, White, Silver glitter
DIES: Special Guy, Mini Slimline Essential Bundle
OTHER: 1" punch, 1/2" punch, 1/8" hole punch (to create "records")

The baseball T die set is such a fun one! It even has a wooden hanger you can add to the shirts.

I wanted to create a folding shirt-shaped card that would hold a gift card inside. I folded an A2 size piece of white cardstock and placed the die slightly above the fold at the shoulders then ran it through my Big Shot. The Go-To Gift Card Slider die fits very well!

STAMPS: Special Guy
INK: True Black, Cocoa Bean
PAPER: Pure Poppy, White, Honey Nut; Silver metallic
DIES: Baseball T, Go-To Gift Card Slider
OTHER: Clear embossing powder

I wanted to also create a card using the baseball shirt so had to go with a larger 5" x 7" card to accommodate the size of the shirt.

The mountains were stamped with Enchanted Evening ink, dried with a heat gun and then the sentiments were white embossed.

I scattered some punched stars for embellishments and also added moonshine sequins.

Here is the inside of the card...

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Everyday, Special Guy
INK: Enchanted Evening, Cocoa Bean; Versamark
PAPER: BItty Bit: Green Parakeet + Bitty Big: Dark Indigo, White, Green Parakeet, Honey Nut, Enchanted Evening, Share Your Heart pattern paper, Silver metallic
DIES: Baseball T
OTHER: Star punches, Moonshine sequins, White embossing powder

So that ends the third day of intros! Come back tomorrow for the 4th and final day. Just a note...I will use the Delicately Woven die on a card tomorrow. It just didn't work for me to include it today. 😊

PTI Day 2 April Reveals

Hi everyone! Welcome back to day #2 of reveals for the April release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Scene Everywhere: At the Lake stamps set and dies + Corrugated Metal Background stamps + Captivating Cattails stamp set and dies + Vase Collection 9 stamp set and dies. This month will give you more masculine options for the men in your life!

This is an easy scene to put together and I kept the layers very simple. I sponged the edges of the torn die panel before layering it on a piece of watercolor pattern paper that is from a new (to me) pad from PTI.

STAMPS: Scene Everywhere: At the Lake, Captivating Cattails
INK: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean, Soft Stone, Weathervane, Smokey Shadow, Olive Twist, True Black, Ocean Tides
PAPER: Watercolor Wonder patterned paper, White, Ocean Tides
DIES: Scene Everywhere: At the Lake, Captivating Cattails, Love to Layer: Torn Edges

As soon as I saw this set of cattails, I knew I wanted to color blend either a sunrise or sunset. The moon was masked off with a one inch circle punched from copy paper.
STAMPS: Captivating Cattails
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seee, Spiced Marmalade distress inks; True Black
PAPER: Text-Style Distressed Dots, True Black; Bristol smooth Surface
DIES: Love to Layer: Notched, Shape Shifters: Oval 2
OTHER: Black twine

Lastly, I wanted to combine the corrugated background stamp set with the new barrel in the Vase Collection.

I started to use the cattails to fill up the barrel but was drawn to the tulips from last month's release and loved the outcome.
I used two different embossing powders by WOW! called Egyptian Turquoise and Grey Sky At Night. For some reason the gray didn't show up well (too much gold mixed in) so, I will need to practice more with getting better metallic looks to this fun background.

STAMPS: Corrugated Metal Background, Vase Collection 9, Just Sentiments: Everyday, Totally Tulips
INK: New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Orange Zest, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean
PAPER: Aqua Mist, White
DIES: Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Totally Tulips, Vase Collection 9
OTHER: Crystal Stickles Jute twine, Clear Star Gelly Roll pen, Sentiment Suite Basics die, WOW! Egyptian Turquoise and WOW! Grey Sky At Night embossing powders
