The Paper Players

It's always fun to play with tic-tac-toe challenges which is what Jaydee has for us at The Paper Players Challenge! I'm going with feminine, birthday and florals for my card.

I finally caved and bought the Spellbinders Shimmer hot foil system. I loved the geometric plate just released at The Greetery and that's when I couldn't resist any longer - lol!

I used my favorite ink colors from PTI to color blend the flowers and leaves after die cutting them from Bristol Smooth paper. The sentiment was embossed with WOW! Rose Gold embossing powder and I used Rose Gold foil on white card stock for the background.
STAMPS: Pinwheel Party (The Greetery).

INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Ocean Tides (Papertrey Ink).

DIES: BotaniCuts: Rose, Basic Sentiment Suite (The Greetery); Stitched Circle and Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

OTHER: Deco Triangles Hot Foil Plate (The Greetery).

That's all for today! There is a thunderstorm rolling through VA and I can't help but think of and pray for safety for those in the south who are in Hurricane Ida's path!  ~Wanda

Try Stampin' On Tuesday

I need to replenish my card supply with some "thank you" sentiments, so decided to play along with the sketch for the current Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge. I had the Dainty Deliveries Frame die cut from Simply Chartreuse paper layered over the same color in my leftover stash and never used it because I didn't get the edges even when I went to glue them together. I had to come up with Plan B which was to die cut the layers with a Torn Edges die. I used a branch instead of a horizontal banner and opted for a bird instead of the oval shape in the sketch.

The bird was die cut from white card stock then, the different parts were color blended using brushes. I've learned the hard way that it works best to adhere the upper wing section (green in this case) first, then add the belly and the two small pieces (yellow neck triangle and small section of his other wing).

I kept it simple and opted for no flowers so that it would fit for a male recipient.

STAMPS: Effortless Beauties (sentiment), Feathered Friends Mini 8 (branch), Loosely Woven (small panel background) - all by Papertrey Ink.

INK: True Black, Dark Chocolate, Weathervane, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado - die inks by Papertrey Ink.

PAPER: Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, White (PTI).

DIES: Border Bling: Dainty Deliveries Frame, Effortless Beauties, Feathered Friends Mini 8, Feathered Friends 13, Love to Layer: Torn Edges - all by Papertrey Ink.

Hope your weekend is going well! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

I had a lot of fun decorating this spooktacular house!

Wow...it's been a decade of sketches for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Congratulations on this incredible milestone! I wanted to play along as it's one of my fave challenges to follow.

I've had this flower-filled vase in my leftover stash for months and decided it was time to turn it into a card.

I color blended some Twisted Citron distress ink in the background and the vase was embossed with Rose Gold embossing powder then die cut. Here's what I used...

Color Throwdown #657

Hi friends and welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week, Lori is our hostess with the colors red, green, turquoise and gray. It was the perfect opportunity to use my new Botanicuts: Geranium dies from The Greetery!

I smooshed some Peacock Feathers distress ink onto Ranger water Color paper. All the florals were die cut from the same paper then painted with Mijello Mission Gold water colors. I used 3 shades of red and three shades of green. The flower pot was color blended with Silver Lining ink by WPlus9.

STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: Birthday (The Greetery).

INK: Versafine Onyx Black; Silver Lining (WPlus9); Peacock Feathers distress ink (Ranger).

PAPER: White, Weathervane (Papertrey Ink); Watercolor (Ranger).

Birthday Cover Plate

Happy Tuesday everyone! I'm posting a quick card I made months ago when the Cover Plate: Birthday die was released by Papertrey Ink. It's one of my all-time faves to whip up a quick and easy birthday card. The patterned paper with a touch of foiling does most of the work. All I added was some WOW! Sunburst embossing powder to the flames and the stars then added iridescent sequins. Easy peasy! I'm entering this into the "anything goes" option for the current Seize the Birthday challenge. If you choose to go with their special topping option, it's a "by the sea" theme.

PAPER: Rainbow Inks 6x6" pad by Recollections; Harvest Gold by Papertrey Ink.

DIES: Cover Plate: Birthday (Papertrey Ink).

Just a reminder...if an item is out of stock at Papertrey Ink (like this cover plate is now), check out The Foiled Fox or Simon Says Stamp. They are selling PTI products now (and I see they are ALL out of stock)!   ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge - Crayons

Hope you are having a terrific Thursday! The month is rolling on by and it's time once again for a new Fusion Card Challenge. I was inspired by the colorful striped look of the crayons but didn't have any crayon images in my stash. Instead, I went with a striped patterned paper and utilized the great sketch.

STAMPS: Dream in Color, Class Act (Reverse Confetti).

INK: Raspberry Fizz, Cocoa Bean, Green Parakeet, True Black (PTI).

PAPER: Cheerful & Kind 6x6" pad by Reverse Confetti; White.

DIES: Class Act (Reverse Confetti); Stitched Rounded Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things), Simple Strips (Pretty Pink Posh).

We'd love to see how you are inspired! Just the sketch? Just the photo? Or fuse them together and use both! Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #656

Happy Wednesday friends! It's time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge and there are some really great primary colors that Lisa Henke has chosen for us! I went with a thank you card to build up my stash for my grands. This could go to their bus driver who is a close family friend or it would also work for a teacher. I went with patterned paper from Recollections that I've had for many years. A good option for school-themed cards!

STAMPS: Class Act (Reverse Confetti).

PAPER: Patterned paper by Recollections; Vintage Cream (PTI).

INK: Pure Poppy, True Black, Green Parakeet, Cocoa Bean (PTI).

DIES: Class Act (Reverse Confetti); Stitched Rectangle and Stitched Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

PTI August Release Day 4

Hello friends! We are already on the 4th and last day of reveals of the August release! Today, we are introducing you to Cover Plate: Apples die + Feathered Friends dies + Spooktacular Kit

I guess I had Granny Smith apples on my mind when I chose the Vintage Jadeite background paper - lol! It was a perfect match for a piece of Yupo paper that I had used with alcohol inks in my salad spinner! Yep. I have a blast spinning the ink and seeing what design will result. Here I used 3 different shades of green plus some blending solution.
This is another beautiful bird - one of my favorite series at PTI. I perched him on a branch from the Feathered Friends Mini 8 set and embellished with some florals.

STAMPS: Inside Greetings: Fall, Feathered Friends Mini 8, Blossoming Branches
INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Dark Chocolate, True Black; Alcohol inks in 3 shades of green
PAPER: Vintage Jadeite, White; Yupo
DIES: Pierced Feature Frames, Cover Plate: Apples, Feathered Friends 14, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Blossoming Branches, Feathered Friends Mini 8 (branch)
OTHER: Salad spinner, Gilded Gems

I love the three sizes of Mason jar dies in the Spooktacular Kit! These can be used all year for every season, so you gotta love versatility (remember yesterday's post where I used it with a winter scene?). I change up this pedestal display stand with each season and enjoy it in my crafty space. The googly eyes, orange/black/white twine, burlap, face features and ghost tag are all part of the Spooktacular kit! I added a touch of rafia to complete the scarecrow!

STAMPS: None

PAPER: Orange Zest, Green Parakeet, Amethyst Allure, True Black, White
DIES: Spooktacular Mason Jars, Spooktacular Shaped Tags, Spooktacular Extras, Spooktacular Faces

Check out this gift card holder using the largest Mason jar die! I cut out two shapes and adhered them at the top with 1/4" Score tape. The front was color blended to mimic candy corn colors.

PTI August Release Day 3

Welcome back to day #3 of reveals for the August release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Pumpkin Party stamps and dies + To Die For Sentiments: Hey Boo! die + Inside Greetings: Fall stamps + Scene Everywhere: Winter stamps and dies + From Our Home to Yours stamps and dies.

I thought a step card would be perfect to showcase the variety of pumpkins that are possible in this fun new set. The sentiment was made more sturdy by layering up 3 die cuts.

I pieced two of the fence die cuts together and stacked the crate on top of a hale bale die.

This may look complicated but it truly is not! There are multiple videos on creating different styles of step cards on YouTube so, give it a try sometime.

STAMPS: Pumpkin Party, Inside Greetings: Fall stamps, Haunted House

INK: True Black, Weathervane, Smokey Shadow, Green Parakeet, Orange Zest, Amethyst Allure, Cocoa Bean
PAPER: Bitty Big: Harvest Gold, True Black, Classic Kraft, Rustic Cream, Green Parakeet
DIES: Pumpkin Party, To Die For Sentiments: Hey Boo!, Haunted House, Hay Bales

I wanted to have a starry night backdrop for this next winter scene set, so smooshed some distress inks on watercolor paper and splattered with Gouache paint.

Add dimension with coarse glitter on the snow drifts and by layering trees and deer with foam tape. I embellished with gold cord and bells to coordinate with the gold embossed sentiment.

STAMPS: Scene Everywhere: WInter, Sweet Scenes: Winter, From Our Home to Yours
INK: Versamark; Hawaiian Shores, Amethyst Allure, Green Parakeet, New Leaf,Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean; Salvaged Patina, Wilted Violet, Prize Ribbon distress inks
PAPER: Watercolor by Ranger; White
DIES: Scene Everywhere: WInter, Sweet Scenes: Winter, From Our Home to Yours, Beautiful Bouquet Tag
OTHER: White Gouache, Gold cord, Jingle Bells

I stumbled upon this tea light card style while browsing on Pinterest and just had to try it out. After cutting a strip of 4 1/4" x 12", score at 4" and 8" to create the easel fold.

Use vellum and adhere behind the cut out shape so the tea light can flicker and shine through. Pop up the sentiment banner with foam tape so the easel fold can rest behind it when the card is  standing up.

STAMPS: From Our Home to Yours, Scene Everywhere: Winter
INK: Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Lemon Tart, Weathervane, Smokey Shadow, Cocoa Bean; Pacific Point; Versamark
PAPER: Pacific Point textured 12 x 12; White; Vellum; Silver glitter
DIES: From Our Home to Yours, Scene Everywhere: Winter
OTHER: Small circle punch

My last card features a Mason jar die that will be revealed tomorrow, but I just had to create a sweet little scene for a shaker version!

I layered the sentiment die with two die cuts and offset it a bit for more visual interest. Small details can really take your card to the next level, so I added Glossy Accents to the berries and coarse glitter on the trees and snow drifts.

Creating a shaker card from the largest Mason jar die makes that set so versatile with options for every season of the year!

STAMPS: From Our Home to Yours, Scene Everywhere: Winter, Corner It: Holly, Framing Fall Sentiments
INK: New Leaf, Ocean Tides, Pinefeather, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Lemon Tart, True Black, Weathervane, Cocoa Bean, Aqua Mist
PAPER: Text-Style: Green Boutique, White, Metallic silver
DIES: Spooktacular Mason Jars, From Our Home to Yours, Scene Everywhere: Winter, Corner It: Holly, Border Bling: Joy Frame
OTHER: Acetate, Sequins
