Fusion Card Challenge

How adorable is this lantern snow scene?!! I knew right away I had to use the Christmas Eve stamp set from The Greetery for my card for the new Fusion Card Challenge!  I already had the stenciled Frosty Flakes background from one of Kathy Racoosin's 30 day coloring challenges, so all I had to do was stamp up the images using my trusty MISTI that makes it easy to line up the layers. I used primarily the inspiration photo but the layout is a loose interpretation of the sketch in my opinion. I added fine glitter to the trees.

What did I use?
STAMPS: Christmas Eve (The Greetery).
PAPER: White (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Fairy Dust, Silver Lining (WPlus9); Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores (Papertrey Ink); Lime Green, Avocado, Bumblebee Yellow, Sunshine, Stone, Stormy (Reverse Confetti); Soft Sky (Stampin' Up); Memento Tuxedo Black.
OTHER: Frosty Flakes stencil by The Greetery; Fine glitter by Martha Stewart.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday

Haha...I did try stamping on Tuesday - for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge - and this card is the result! Problem is I didn't get around to posting it until Wednesday! I'm in Thanksgiving prep mode with one pie baked and the second in the oven. Cranberry salad is ready in the frig as is the cheese ball. We'll be heading to be with my family in Ohio and I can't wait! Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving and remember that gratefulness and joy is a choice we make daily. Circumstances aren't always joyful but there is still a lot to be thankful for. Sorry...I digress - lol!

Seems like these colors (Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron) keep repeating themselves in my Christmas cards this year! I love creating with snowflakes (dies by WPlus9) and feel the cool colors work well for this theme. The background was splattered and also stamped using the grunge stamp from the Christmas Countdown set by Stampin' Up.  Not only did I think this would be a good set for holiday tags, but I love the variety of background options it gives! Speaking of SU...that corduroy button was purchased from them MANY years ago. I added fine glitter to the snowflakes after I had the card assembled. I found out that's less messy than adding glitter before adhering them.

Time to hit the shower...thanks for stopping by!     ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #571

Hey everyone! There are some awesome new colors for the Color Throwdown Challenge...thanks to our hostess, Amy Rysavy! I went with a whimsical line of trees - dies by Our Frantic Stamper. The background was embossed using Stampin' Up's Softly Falling embossing folder. Love the subtle look of falling snow! The sentiment (Sentiment Suite: Christmas) and banner (Sentiment Suite Basics) are from The Greetery. Silver snowflake embellishments top it all off!

We'd love to see how you interpret these colors! If you need more inspiration, check out the rest of the design team samples below.

Sunday Stamps Challenge

It's a busy week preparing food as well as planning for travel out of state, but...I couldn't resist this fun sketch for the Sunday Stamps Challenge! I created a snowflake background using WPlus9 inks - Lime Light and VI Pink.  For the 3 circle elements in the sketch, I used white snowflakes that have fine glitter added to them. I once again went to the trusty 'go to' sentiment Christmas set by The Greetery.

STAMPS: Snowflakes (Stampin' Up - retired); Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery).
INK: Lime Light, VI Pink (WPlus9); Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Stitched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things); Snowflake Trio (WPlus9); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).

So that's it for now! Off to the grocery store for last minute items.                                                                              ~Wanda

Paper Players Sketch Challenge

Good Sunday everyone!  Joanne has an awesome sketch for us this week for the Paper Players Challenge and we'd love to see how you interpret this one! I decided to splatter white paint on kraft cardstock then cut strips from some leftover papers. I colored the images with Zig clean color brush markers after stamping with Memento Tuxedo Black on Ranger watercolor paper.

STAMPS: Poinsettia and Pine (Altenew).
DIES: Hand Lettered Holiday (WPlus9); Stitched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things); Poinsettia and Pine (Altenew).
ZIGS: 028, 051, 045, 041, 046.

Freshly Made Sketches

It's been a dreary day in VA and between some housekeeping details, I'm now posting my second card for the day! I'm playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The white splattered panel was an extra from another project, so I grabbed it for starters. I dug out this old Sizzix die - Christmas Tree #2 - and cut it from a watercolored panel of Pelikan paints (I used two different greens).

I splattered blue gold paint (Gansai Tambi Starry Colors) over the tree and splattered opaque Copic white pigment over the kraft panel. The tiny sentiment from WPlus9's Woodland Wreaths set was gold embossed then die cut using Sentiment Suite Basics die from The Greetery. The stag - one of the Stag Trio die set by WPlus9 - doesn't show up very well. It's cut from Mirror Gold cardstock by Altenew and is VERY shiny IRL!

So... that's it for today!  So glad you stopped by!      ~Wanda

CAS(E) This Sketch

There's a great new sketch happening on the CAS(E) This Sketch blog and it was perfect to get another Christmas card done! I had a pile of these die cut trees left over from another project, so sponged the edges with blending brushes and layered them over another leftover rectangle that I splattered with blue gold paint from Gansai Tambi Starry Color paint palette. Patterned paper is from the "Merry" 6x6" pad by My Mind's Eye. It coordinates with Spring Moss CS by Papertrey Ink.

STAMPS: Hand Lettered Holiday (WPlus9).
PAPER: Merry 6x6 pad (My Mind's Eye); Spring Moss (Papertrey Ink); Gold Mirror (Altenew).
INK: Bermuda Bay, Lucky Limeade by SU.
DIES: Hand Lettered Holiday (WPlus9); Tall Pine Trees (Frantic Stamper); Pierced Feature Frames (PTI).

Thanks for stopping by!                                ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #570

Yours truly is hosting this week's Color Throwdown challenge and I hope you'll enjoy working with turquoise, orange and gray as much as I did! I went with a pretty literal take on the inspiration photo as well by giving the illusion of a snow globe (though the snowman is bursting outside of the globe - lol!) I stenciled with Peacock Feathers distress ink over the Frosty Flakes stencil by The Greetery. I then dry embossed the Softly Falling folder by SU.

The image was colored with Copics, highlighted with a white gel pen then fussy cut. The sentiment and banner die are from the Sentiment Suite: Christmas stamp set and the Sentiment Suite Basics die set by The Greetery.

We'd love to see how you interpret these colors! If you need more inspiration, check out the rest of the design team samples below.

Mojo Monday Sketch

I am in full howliday mode - lol! Yes...I am one of those that loves to have the decorating done BEFORE Thanksgiving! We go out of state over Thanksgiving and it seems when we return home, time just FLIES by so quickly and I don't want to think about my house in an uproar at that point. Speaking of howlidays, I once again used an image I had colored earlier for Kathy Racoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge. It's from a punny stamp set - Deck the Howls - by My Favorite Things. I used the layout that Julee Tilman created for the last Mojo Monday sketch challenge of 2019. It's a fun one!

I paper pieced the dog sweater and colored the rest with Copics and highlighted with a white gel pen. I added Glossy Accents to his nose. The splatters are from adding water to a dried up jar of Copic opaque white until I had a thin enough consistency to splatter it with a small brush.  The jingle bells make this difficult to mail, so it will be a hand delivered card for someone.

My lighting wasn't great at 5:30 PM, but I'm going to go ahead and post several of my decorating "spots".  The first is my kitchen island centerpiece.

Next is the dining room server display.

My third spot is a corner in our family room with a couple of snowmen from what I've collected for many years.

You can quickly see I have a gold and green overall color scheme going on!

That's it for now...thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge

I wanted to play with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch challenge so I could use this ornament die shape that I got last year and never used! It was perfect for one of the doggy images with the punny sentiment from MFT's Deck the Howls stamp set.  The plaid panel was cut using MFT's Blueprint 27 die set. The Pinpoint Shaker Ornament die is from Poppystamps.

The patterned paper is from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Christmas 6x6" pack. Images were colored with Copics.

Freshly Made Sketches

Squeaking in under the wire here with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge! I had this wreath leftover from a previous project, so added a couple of leafy sprigs and jingle bells then layered the sentiment on top. The lavender panel has vellum over a "too bright" scrap of purple. The vellum toned down the color so that it matched this beautiful patterned paper. I'm not a big fan of purple, but seems like it's popping up often here lately!

STAMPS: Woodland Wreaths, Hand Lettered Holiday (WPlus9).
PAPER: Feels Like Frost 6x6" pack (Stampin' Up); Grape Soda (Reverse Confetti); White (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Wild Wasabi, Garden Green (SU); Grape Soda (Reverse Confetti).
DIES: Woodland Wreaths, Hand Lettered Holiday (WPlus9).

It's a very dreary, rainy Monday and has been hard to get motivated this morning! Thanks so much for stopping by!    ~Wanda

Paper Players CAS

Happy Sunday everyone! It's clean and simple week at The Paper Players challenge blog and Jaydee has also chosen a North Pole theme to inspire us! Ironically, the day I made my card was unusually blustery and cold in VA, so I was led to use this snowflake embossing folder in my background along with a leftover piece of gelli print work from a long time ago.  I pulled out some stamps by Paper Smooches that were fun to color and paper piece!
I did some ink blending using Coastal Cabana (SU) and Falling For Blue (WPlus9) and used that to paper piece the scarf and hat band. The sentiment was white embossed then die cut with a banner die from MFT's Blueprint 27 set. A plastic snowflake that's been in my stash several years topped it off!

STAMPS: Freezy Fellas (Paper Smooches); Sentiment Sampler (Paper Smooches).

We'd love to have you play along with us!   For more inspiration from the rest of the design team, you can check them out HERE.                                                                                   ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great week! If you have some free time, we'd love to have you play along with us at Fusion Card Challenge. I used both the sketch and the thanks theme from the photo. It was a very simple design and I started by adhering 3 die cut snowflakes over this patterned paper.

Here is what I used:
STAMPS: Warm Winter Wishes by Flourishes (company is no longer in business).
PAPER: Altitude 6x6 pack by BoBunny; Tropical Teal by Papertrey Ink.
INK: Tropical Teal (PTI).
DIES: Snowflake Trio (WPlus9); Blueprint 27 (My Favorite Things); Stitched Circle STAX (My Favorite Things); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).

Guest Designer at CTS

It's always an honor to have your card chosen as a challenge winner and I am thrilled to say that happened to me which leads to my being a guest designer for CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #348!  Woohoo and a big thank you to Chrissy Larson for the invite!

This sketch has endless possibilities, but I went with a new collaboration stamp set between Reverse Confetti and Simon Says Stamp for their Stamptember celebration. It's called Wonderful You and I've loved using it!

The card base is Fine Linen CS by Papertrey Ink. I stamped the leaf sprig outline repeatedly with Memento Tuxedo Black ink (using my MISTI to get at least two inkings). Then I used Old Paper, Peeled Paint and Evergreen Bough distress oxide inks to "fill in" the leaves with color. I splattered black paint from my Mijello Mission Gold palette, waited for it to dry, then die cut with the Crimped Frame die by The Greetery.  I wrapped jute twine around the panel then added this sweet little tag - Sentiment Suite: Thinking of You - by The Greetery. I am loving this color combination for fall!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Love reading your comments!

INK: Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede by Stampin' Up; Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Stag Trio, Merry and Bright, Woodland Wreaths - WPlus9; Stitched Flags STAX, Stitched Rectangle STAX by My Favorite Things; Sentiment Suite Basics by The Greetery.

Paper Players Color Challenge

It's color week at The Paper Players and Claire has chosen some really gorgeous colors for us! I decided to go with some ink smooshing (that's a technical term, I'm sure - lol!). I went with a holiday sentiment but I'm thinking I may need to add some kind of ornament accents to make it look more like a Christmas card.

I used the closest distress inks that I could match with the SU colors and went with Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, and Twisted Citron. I first triple stamped the Abstract Triangles background (Simon Says Stamp) with black ink then smooshed on the distress inks. A frame was die cut using Papertrey Ink's Pierced Feature Frames die and I adhered a vellum layer behind it. The sentiment is by Lil Inker Designs.

We sure would love to have you join us! For more inspiration from the rest of the design team, you'll want to check it out HERE.
