Color Throwdown

It's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge and this week, Lynn is our hostess and has chosen some happy, vivid colors for us: hot pink, lime green, yellow and pale blue!  Here's what I created...

I really love this Mist cardstock - a beautiful shade of light blue by Reverse Confetti - so, I used that for my 5x5 inch square card base and layered a white Congrats Square Panel die cut from white CS.   The florals - colored with Copics - are from RC's Build A Bunch stamp set with matching Confetti Cuts. The sentiment is from their Congratulations stamp set. I'm thinking this could be used for a wedding or anniversary greeting.

Altenew January 2018 Inspiration Challenge

I'm squeaking in here under the wire for the deadline with Altenew's January 2018 Inspiration Challenge. I just loved the vibrant, happy colors in their inspiration photo and couldn't pass up the opportunity to add to my birthday card stash!  It's been awhile since I used their Layered Floral Cover dies and they pack such a WOW factor in these colors!

I used Tangerine and Bumblebee cardstock by Reverse Confetti and Raspberry Fizz by PTI.  The sentiment - from Altenew's Painted Greetings - is white embossed on heavy weight vellum.  I adhered all the layers by spraying lightly with Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive.  This is a quick and easy card to put together if you need one in a hurry.

Layer it Up!

I'm entering this card into Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge to layer it up!  All the stamps and dies are Reverse Confetti products - many items from their January release! I wanted to have some texture in the background, but if I had to do it over, I would use a much smaller stencil design with texture paste or possibly just do some dry embossing with an embossing folder in the background.  I had already anchored the elements so firmly that there was no tearing them off without destroying them - lol!

Here is what I used:
STAMPS: Kindness Cards (RC)
PAPER: Forever My Love 6x6 pad, Sand, Dark Roast, Navy Blue - all by RC
INK: Navy Blue, Bellini (RC)
MISC: Stamped Note, Kindness Cards, Edge Essentials, Tag Me (all Confetti Cuts by RC); Leaf Lattice stencil by RC; Liquitex light modeling paste.

Color Throwdown

Hello all and happy hump day! Yes...it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge and this week we've got light blue, rust and gray inspired by this adorable table setting!  I decided the colors would be perfect to ink up some images from Reverse Confetti's Heart Spots stamp set and color them with Copics.  The sentiment was white embossed on Cajun Craze (SU) cardstock and is from another Reverse Confetti January release set called Heart Filled Sentiments.

I just can't stop using this Falling Hearts Panel die by Reverse Confetti!  I layered it over a watercolored panel in my leftover stash where I smooshed Tumbled Glass distress ink on watercolor cardstock by Ranger then sprinkled some droplets of water over it to give it the look of bleached spots. I'm thinking this would work as a Valentine for one of my grandchildren.  😍

CAS Heart Spots

A quick, clean and simple card for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge and the Paper Players challenge to create a CAS card with a Love Notes theme. The background was an experiment with alcohol inks on a piece of regular rather than glossy cardstock.  The cheetah was colored with Copics and his nose was highlighted with Glossy Accents.

Here's what I used:
STAMPS: Heart Spots (Reverse Confetti)
PAPER: Black and White Stripes 6x6 pad (My Favorite Things), X-Press It Blending Card, White CS by PTI.
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.

CAS(E) This Sketch

Here is my take on Leigh's great layout for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I recently acquired this new Peony Dream 3D die from Altenew after I enjoyed their Fantasy Floral die so much!  I used 4 different cardstock colors from my leftover stash and am not sure of the papers' names.  I cut the sentiment using Lil' Inker Designs die and adhered it to a black banner die (Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX by MFT).  I love the little stitched window - another MFT die called Square Peek/Boo Window.

Excuse the glare of the gold mirror cardstock!  It's so difficult for me to photograph something so shiny.  Edited to add: Well...I am behind the times!  This sketch was posted January 11 so I totally missed the deadline.  Oops!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Inspired By All The LIttle Things

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a super Saturday! We've got the second Inspired By All The Little Things challenge for January happening today (remember the change in 2018 is to only have two challenges per month instead of weekly).  This sweet inspiration photo had two little details that inspired my card - the textured background on the white cookies and the heart shaped cookies!

I kept it clean and simple and started by dry embossing the background using a Sizzix embossing folder.  The layered Floral Fantasy die set by Altenew was on my desk from a previous project, so I opted to use it again and cut from some dark burgundy, medium pink and watercolored red scrap pieces of cardstock.  The watercolored leaves were also from my leftover pile as was the silver glitter Sketch Heart by Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment is from SSS Brush Stroke Messages stamp set.

Would love to have you play along with us!

Color Throwdown Challenge

Are you ready for another great color palette to get your creative mojo going? The Color Throwdown Challenge is brought to you by Lisa Henke this week and she was inspired to use light blue, kraft and white.  This inspiration photo ironically is posted as VA is getting some snowfall today!

I had a snowman stamped and ready to color, but this large Sizzix Snow Flurry die by SU kept calling my name - lol!

I used patterned papers from Carta Bella's 6x6 pad called Winter Fun and layered up the glitter-filled kraft snowflake as the focal point.  The sentiment is from MFT's Thanks So Much stamp set from their Pure Innocence line and was white embossed on kraft CS.  It was die cut using MFT Stitched Sentiment Strips dies.

We're happy to have Kim Fee as our guest star stamper...welcome!

RC Sketch For You To Try

I'm sharing a card I created using the great new layout for Reverse Confetti's January Sketch For You To Try challenge!

Here is my take on it using the new Something Wonderful  stamp set with coordinating Confetti Cuts.

One of my fave techniques with this silhouette floral stamp is to add ink directly to the stamp using distress markers (Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss), "huffing" over the stamp to re-moisten the ink, then stamping on CS.   I'm really loving this font on all the sentiments in this stamp set!
