Freshly Made Sketches

Good Monday! It's been a beautiful day though still on the hot side. I'm keeping cool in my craft room and decided to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. (edited to add: I missed getting my card posted on the linky...bummer!). I had the hot foiled background in my leftover pile so used that as a starting point. I layered up some Into the Blooms: Gardenia dies by Papertrey Ink. I lightly blended some Harvest Gold ink over white paper then blended Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse inks over white for the leaves.

The sentiment was gold embossed over heavy weight vellum.

STAMPS: Captivating Cattails (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold (Papertrey Ink); Versamark.
PAPER: Simply Chartreuse, Stampers Select White, Vellum (PTI).
DIES: Into the Blooms: Gardenia (Papertrey Ink).

Hello summer...the theme for this beautiful inspiration photo for the current The Card Concept challenge. I'm needing some thank you cards so it was the perfect time to whip up this card that I would call a clean and layered style.

STAMPS: Handwritten Thanks (The Stamp Market).
INK: Hawaiian Shores, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise die inks by Papertrey Ink; Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn distress inks by Ranger.
PAPER: Stampers Select White, Hawaiian Shores, True Black (PTI); Black & White Stripes 6x6 pad (My Favorite Things).

It's a very toasty day here in VA with temps up in the low 90's. Stay cool everyone!  ~Wanda

Steeped In Happiness

I got happy mail yesterday when my order from this month's release at The Greetery arrived. I had a hard time deciding what was top priority for me since everything was just so amazing! I chose the tea cups and matching punny sentiments and tried to keep my design clean and simple since that was part of the challenge at the Paper Players...along with having it be a sympathy or encouragement card. I'm hoping this will pass the test for an encouragement sentiment.

I had the hot foiled "frame" in my leftover pile where I used matte black foil on Soft Stone paper. I stenciled the cup using Berry Sorbet ink over the same color paper. The adorable teabag is just the cutest embellishment!

STAMPS: Brew-tea-ful Day Sentiments (The Greetery).
INK: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy distress inks; Berry Sorbet dye ink (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink; Versamark.
PAPER: Stampers Select White, Soft Stone, Berry Sorbet, True Black (PTI).
DIES: Brew-tea-ful Day Sentiments, Sips Tea, Brew-tea-ful Day Bouquet (The Greetery); Border Bling: Tin Stitch (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Sips Tea stencil (The Greetery); Black matte foil; Psalm Reflections December hot foil plate (Papertrey Ink); Gold embossing powder.

That's it for now! Heading over to UVA hospital to see DH post stem cell transplant. It's his birthday today as well. Take care and stay cool!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #798

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge with Lynn hosting this week. She has chosen a festive summer combo - red, blue, & green - and it was perfect for adding another birthday card to my stash! I went with a stenciled berry background and added geraniums to a fence die for the pop of red.

Geraniums were splattered with water after I color blended them with Pure Poppy ink. The leaves were leftovers from a previous project and am not sure now what ink colors I used.

STAMPS: Tuck It Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).
INK: New Leaf, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Pure Poppy, Bright Buttercup, Classic Kraft (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; Stampers Select White (PTI).
DIES: Picket Fence, Into the Blooms: Geraniums (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things; Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).

Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Here is another birthday card (yup...lots of June birthdays!) and this time it's for the Tic Tac Toe challenge. I chose the far right vertical column with twine/mono-chromatic/sequins that works perfectly for my red-loving husband who has a birthday next week. We will be most likely celebrating on the stem cell unit at University of Virginia hospital. It's been quite a long journey with multiple myeloma treatment, but he is doing remarkably well!

STAMPS: Mashup Birthday (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Pure Poppy, True Black (PTI).
PAPER: Stampers Select White, Bitty Big: Pure Poppy (PTI).
DIES: Cover Plate: Big Balloon, Mashup Birthday (PTI).
OTHER: Red & white twine, Sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting! Hope you are staying cool in your corner of the world 'cause it's a hot time in Virginia!  ~Wanda

Just Us Girls

TGIF! I'm entering this birthday card into the Just Us Girls challenge where it is "word week" and the word is CELEBRATE. I was recently asked by a friend to design a card for a boy who was turning 16 and this is what I created.

I layered up a couple of tags to use as the focal point. I love to personalize a card in some way, so here I added the #16. The balloon was white embossed then watercolored with Twisted Citron distress ink.

STAMPS: Scribble Balloons, Cake Creations (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Pure Poppy; Versamark; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Twisted Citron distress.
PAPER: Surprise! Collection 6x6 pad by BoBunny; Pure Poppy, Stampers Select White, Green Parakeet (PTI).
DIES: Banner Builders: Basics, Charming Tags, Cake Creations, Scribble Balloons (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Master Layouts 08 (Gina K Designs).
OTHER: White embossing powder, Red/white thread.

That's it for today. It will be more visits to the hospital this weekend post stem cell transplant for my husband who is fighting multiple myeloma. He is doing very well with only minimal side effects...an answer to lots of prayers for him! Have a blessed weekend!  ~Wanda

Inspired By..

I needed a masculine birthday card, so the new Inspired By challenge was the perfect inspiration to create a "tuck it" card! I was inspired by the stripes, the color palette and the sketch. I had this patterned paper pad on my desk from an earlier project so that's where I started. I then die cut and stamped a variety of sports elements to "tuck" behind the sentiment.

STAMPS: Tuck It: Dad, Tuck It: Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Dark Indigo, Pure Poppy, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne; Rocky Slope (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: Freedom Ring patterned 6x6 pad (Echo Park); Stampers White (PTI).
DIES: Tuck It: Dad, Tuck It: Sentiments, Love to Layer: Soft Scallops (Papertrey Ink); Double Banner Garland (Reverse Confetti).
OTHER: Corner chomper.

That's a wrap for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #797

Happy hump day! It's time again for a new Color
Throwdown challenge. This week, Lori is hosting and has chosen yellow, orange and red as our color palette. It's the time of year when I need lots of birthday cards, so I pulled a favorite cover plate die from Papertrey Ink to create this card.

I color blended the base with three distress ink colors: Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin and Candied Apple. The sentiment was stamped with Pure Poppy dye ink by PTI. This is such a quick and easy option when you need a fast birthday greeting!

STAMPS: Message in a Bottle (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Stampers Select White (PTI).
DIES: Cover Plate: Birthday, Banner Builders: Basics (PTI).
OTHER: Moonshine sequins (PTI).

We'd love to have you play along with us.  Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

INK: Enchanted Evening, Aqua Mist, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate, Bright Buttercup, New Leaf, Olive Twist, Ripe Avocado (PTI).
PAPER: Bitty Big: Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, Stampers Select White (PTI); Matte metallic gold.

The Flower Challenge

Hope you are having a terrific Thursday! I am squeezing in some stamping time while I still can before my husband's stem cell transplant this coming Monday. I'll be at the hospital quite frequently until he is discharged home in about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. His aphoresis procedure went well and he has tolerated everything else very well, so here's hoping he will handle this next step without complications.

I loved the sketch for The Flower Challenge which was great for a wedding card I will need in the near future.

I had this background panel in my leftover stash where I stenciled small dots using texture paste. I chose to add the vertical strip using die cut vellum. I changed the sentiment location since the lower left corner was heavily "weighted" with the florals and I felt it would look more balanced to place it in the top right corner.

STAMPS: Tuck It Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Bright Buttercup, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, Olive Twist, Ripe Avocado (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Vellum, Soft Stone, Stampers Select White (PTI); Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Into the Blooms II, Ripped Banners (PTI); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Bubble Blower embellishment mix (Trinity Stamps); Texture Paste; Small dotted stencil (PTI).

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!  ~Wanda
