Color Throwdown #653

Another Wednesday means another Color Throwdown challenge! Broni is hosting this week and has some fabulous colors for us: pink, orange, yellow and green. It was a great time to break out my new Sitting Pretty porch dies with accessories just released at The Greetery. While I had a great time playing with these new "toys", I have a sad thing to report in that the geranium dies just disappeared into thin air and I've not found them after LOTS of searching for several days! I went through my trash can THREE times! I've had similar die losses in the past, but have always found them eventually. I'm still hoping they show up! That explains why only one pot has geraniums in it. I had to venture through other Greetery sets to find some tiny flowers that would also work - lol.

The background was color blended using Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass distress oxide inks on Bristol Smooth Surface paper. The rocking chair is so amazing with the layering of the pieces giving it such realistic dimension! I added washi tape to the rug to jazz it up a bit.

STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: Birthday (The Greetery).

PAPER: White (Papertrey Ink); Bristol Smooth Surface.

INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, Black Soot, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass distress oxide inks by Ranger; True Black (Papertrey Ink).

DIES: Sitting Pretty, Sitting Pretty Accessories, Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).

Thanks for stopping by...hope to see you in the gallery!

What Do I Do With This?

Hello everyone! Some of the designers at Papertrey Ink are creating with beautiful rain stones this month for the What Do I Do With This Challenge. Today, I have a card that uses rain stones. You might know them by a different name (I called them dew drops and used a similar product over the years).

They are one of my favorite embellishments that can serve several purposes. They can hide small mistakes but they are also great for adding some dimensional sparkle and shine to a project. I love the look of dew-kissed flowers and leaves, so that is how I chose to use them. My card has flowers from the newly released Prosperous Perennials and leaves are die cut from Into the Blooms II die set. I cut the florals from leftover pieces of watercolor paper that was inked with a variety of distress inks then splattered with white paint. The background panel was stenciled with Weathervane dye ink using a hexagon stencil. Rain drops were adhered using Bearly Art precision craft glue and with the aid of a jewel picker tool.

Fireflies

Nothing says summer like watching the twinkling lights from fireflies on a warm summer evening near dusk! We are seeing an unusual number of them this summer and our two local grandchildren (five and seven) enjoy trying to catch them! When I saw the recent release from The Greetery, I knew I had to have the Mason jar and firefly dies!

I wanted to keep the jar shape for my card so instead of gluing it onto a rectangular A2 card base, I die cut two of the jar shapes and adhered them together at the top with 1/4" Scoretape to form a hinge. The background was ink blended with Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon distress inks. The light rays were stamped with Crackling Campfire distress ink. I used a pale gray cardstock for the base and silver metallic cardstock for the jar lid.

I'm entering this into a new (to me) challenge called the Stinkin' Inkers Challenge which has a "Let the Sparks Fly" theme this month. I'm sure they were thinking fireworks, but I stretched the idea by using glow powder on the firefly bodies. It was my first try with using the glow powder and I wasn't sure how to apply it. I added a lot of liquid glue (Bearly Art Precision Craft glue) then poured the powder over it and allowed for a long drying time. I'd love to hear from you if there's a better way to adhere the powder!

STAMPS: Firefly Nights (The Greetery).

PAPER: Soft Stone, White, True Black, Vellum (Papertrey Ink); Metallic Silver (Stampin' Up).

INK: True Black (Papertrey Ink); distress inks as listed in the description.

DIES: Fireflies, Jumbo Jar, Shining Light (The Greetery).

Have a wonderful day! It's "Friyay" and we are looking forward to celebrating our 5 year old grandson's birthday tonight (it was actually yesterday). He requested a spaghetti supper (or "paschetti" as he calls it). 😂💝   Thanks so much for stopping by!                ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge

Life's short! Squeeze it for all it's worth! Yup...that's my card in a nutshell. I totally went with the lemon theme and used the sketch as well. This Lemon Zest set from Stampin' Up is retired but one I still go to if I need a citrus theme. The coordinating punch makes it so easy to whip up a card!

STAMPS: Lemon Zest (Stampin' Up).

PAPER: Bitty Big: Green Parakeet, White (Papertrey Ink).

INK: Lemon Tart, Green Parakeet, New Leaf (Papertrey Ink).

DIES: Stitched Rectangle and Circle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Vintage Travel (Papertrey Ink).

OTHER: Lemon punch (Stampin' Up).

We hope you can join us in this challenge!

Before I sign off, I have to give a shout out to our grandson (the only boy out of 4 grands) who has a birthday today! He is now 5 years old and he is such a sweet boy! Here is a recent photo of him and his sister and two cousins riding on pawpaw's golf cart. Happy birthday, Cash! 🎂 💙

Happy stamping!             ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #652

Happy Wednesday and welcome to a new Color Throwdown Challenge! We have some great colors this week: aqua, blue, green and kraft! While I initially thought of a seascape, I opted for florals instead. No surprise there!

STAMPS: Prosperous Perennials, Just Sentiments: Happy Hello (Papertrey Ink).

PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White, Bitty Big: Classic Kraft (Papertrey Ink).

INK: Salvaged Patina, Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw distress inks by Ranger.

It's Release Day at Ink to Paper!

The Ink to Paper July release items are available for purchase tonight at 10pm EDT, so get your shopping list ready! I went with a simple design using my fave new mash-up sentiment!

I gold embossed "birthday" to pick up on the gold mixative I had used in the alcohol ink panel. It's been in my "extra" pile for a long time so I'm not sure what inks I used. I love the layer of vellum that adds an element of softness next to the bold and bright alcohol inks!

STAMPS: Mash-Up Birthday (Ink to Paper).

INK: Raspberry Fizz; Versamark.

PAPER: Yupo, Lovely Lady, White (Ink to Paper).

DIES: Love to Layer: Torn Edges, Mash-Up Birthday (Ink to Paper); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

Happy shopping!                                             ~Wanda

Day 4 Reveals Ink to Paper

We are already on the fourth and last day of reveals for the July release at Ink to Paper! Today we are introducing you to Topiary Times stamp set and dies and Inside Greetings: Happy Hello stamp set.

I knew I wanted to add a pair of topiary trees to the Holiday Door Decor tent style packaging die. I placed it so the fold of this A2 size card would be at the top of the chimneys. The roof was stamped with the Loosely Woven background stamp and was popped up at the awning fold with a narrow strip of foam tape.

The card base was embossed with a 3D embossing folder and the brick pattern was lightly sponged with Weathervane ink over Soft Stone card stock.

STAMPS: Topiary Time, Holiday Door Decor, Loosely Woven.
INK: Soft Stone, Weathervane, Cocoa Bean, Spring Moss, Prairie Grass, Simply Chartreuse, True Black, Pure Poppy, Scarlet jewel, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Green Parakeet, Classic Kraft.
PAPER: Soft Stone, Weathervane, True Black, White, Hawaiian Shores.
DIES: Topiary Time, Holiday Door Decor, Tent Style Packaging: Holiday House.
OTHER: Brick 3D embossing folder.

The designer for this stamp set had a unique idea with allowing some of the images to turn into a hot air balloon. My second card uses this concept!

The card base is patterned paper with a trio of fussy cut, stenciled clouds that were lightly brushed on the edges with Aqua Mist ink.

STAMPS: Topiary Time, Inside Greetings: Happy Hello.
INK: Pinefeather, Vintage Jadeite, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist.
PAPER: Rainbow Inks patterned paper by Recollections; White.
DIES: Topiary Time, Vintage Travel.
OTHER: Cloud stencil, Twine.

I wanted to create a gift box using the Wreath Favor Box die with one of the new Inside Greetings: Happy Hello sentiments.

The florals are from the Prosperous Perennials stamp and die set and I finished the closure with seam binding, lace and sparkly tulle trim!

STAMPS: Inside Greetings: Happy Hello, Wreath Favor Box Sentiments, Prosperous Perennials
INK: Sweet Blush, Lovely Lady, green Parakeet, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, True Black
PAPER: White
DIES: Wreath Favor Box, Prosperous Perennials
OTHER: Seam binding, Lace, Glittery tulle

Color Throwdown #651

It's hump day and that means another Color Throwdown Challenge is up and running! Amy Rysavy is hosting this week and has a bright color palette for us.

I wanted to try out my Tartan Builder Diagonal Stencils that I've had but never used until now. I used Mowed Lawn, Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers distress inks to create the plaid background.

I die cut the Botanicuts Sunflower dies from white card stock then color blended with more distress inks (see supply list below).
STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: BIrthday (The Greetery).

INK: Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire, Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed distress inks; Enchanted Evening dye ink (sentiment).

Day 3 Reveals Ink to Paper

Welcome back to day #3 of reveals from Ink to Paper's July release! Today we are introducing you to Mash-Up Birthday stamp set and dies + Cover Plate: Birthday die. Birthday cards are probably the biggest category of cards I create for and these new products will make that task a lot easier!

I really love these large mash-up sentiments! I used Sunburst embossing powder by WOW! and heat embossed two layers. The "happy" sentiment was stamped using Raspberry Fizz ink.
I paper-pieced a trio of balloons from this fave cover die using patterned papers from the Share Your Heart packet.

STAMPS: Mash-Up Birthday.
INK: Raspberry Fizz; Versamark.
PAPER: Share Your Heart patterned paper; White, Aqua Mist.
DIES: Mash-Up Birthday, Cover Plate: Big Balloon.
OTHER: WOW! Sunburst embossing powder.

For my next card, I wanted to use the another mash-up sentiment on a mini-slimline card.

I continued with more of the patterned Share Your Heart papers and inked up a triple layer cake from the Cake Creations stamp set.

STAMPS: Mash-Up Birthday, Cake Creations.
INK: Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, True Black, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony.
PAPER: Share Your Heart patterned paper; White.
DIES: Mash-Up Birthday, Cake Creations.
OTHER: Corner chomper.

My last card today features the new birthday cover plate die which is a really quick and easy way to create a birthday card!

I color blended with distress inks then splattered water from a paint brush to get the splotched white markings. Clear sequins were added for some sparkle.

STAMPS: None.
INK: Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China distress ink.
PAPER: White, Ranger water color.
DIES: Cover Plate: Birthday.
OTHER: Clear sequins.
